RIPLEY (2024) NETFLIX
Just finished this, it is quite superb
Based on the famous novel and film(The Talented Mr Ripley)
Set in 60s I think and shot in black and white which really adds to the whole feel

Re: TV series worth watching/downloading
I've started and ditched a couple of duff sci-fi series recently: Killjoys and one other whose title I've already forgotten.
I've enjoyed the first 2 series of Dark Winds, serious crime in a Navajo reservation in the late 60s. At first I thought the mystic Native American witchcraft aspect might put me off, but the storyline is strong enough. Season 3 is in the works.

I'm enjoying Billy the Kid on Amazon and I've just downloaded the first 2 seasons of Mayor of Kingstown.
Haven't bothered with The Boys as I thought it looked a bit silly; was I wrong?

Just finished watching Bodkin on Netflix. Well worth a watch, I'd say.
Set in West Cork in Ireland, it's a darkly comedic thriller that follows an Irish journalist, an English researcher and an American podcaster who set out to investigate the mystery surrounding the disappearance of three strangers in an idyllic Irish town, decades earlier.
Without giving too much away, it soon emerges that this supposed cold case may not be completely cold after all.

Just rediscovered Roald Dahl's Tales Of The Unexpected on You Toob.
Essential Friday night viewing in the late '70's for us Brits.
All 9 seasons available on the channel link. You will be surprised at the big names that appeared.

As an aside, I tried to view the u-tube video and it said the content was not available in your country (my Nord VPN was on using UK so I turned to pause but it still wouldn’t allow me to watch it. So I set my Nord location to Thailand and it started playing!!

'Those About to Die' is out. Anthony Hopkins in it, mixed reviews. Looks great. Trailers can sometimes show the only good bits in a series over a couple of minutes though.
The series explores a side of Rome never before told - the dirty business of entertaining the masses, giving the mob what they want most - blood and sport.

Well, it's a side that's been explored in many historical novels. I'm watching ep 2; I'd say it's ok, but not enthralling. I wouldn't read too much into Hopkins' participation - I suspect someone made an offer he couldn't refuse!Lost wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 3:38 am 'Those About to Die' is out.
