Best long-term internet/data mobile SIM deals

Post by buksida »

thecolonel wrote: Thu Aug 01, 2024 10:48 pm I would suggest deleting the word unlimited from this thread title, even in inverted commas it's misleading

Some packages have restrictive limits, some have very workable limits and some have no limits at all. But all of these options are useful comparisons for the thread. And we wouldn't want to be off topic

The data limit is part of the choice in this regard so we shouldn't be restricted in talking about unlimited packages only which according to the heading we should be
Makes sense seeing as nearly all the packages are limited in some way or other.

I renewed my AIS package for another 12 months today for 1800฿ i.e. 150฿/month for unlimited calls and high speed Internet. I was very happy with the deal.

When you say "high speed Internet" can you please specify max speed and any download limits?

Then we can appreciate how good the deal really is

Also I will assume you were allowed to keep the same number

Does your package have a name?

Thanks

A very difficult question. I think the package offers 15Mb/sec, but it often works in excess of 40Mb/sec. More than adequate for a phone IMHO. It is the AIS package you told us about at the start of this thread - that is where I signed up for it.

I think it is called Net Marathon

Apologies, you didn't tell us about the package at the start of this thread, it was an earlier similar thread.

Noted i should of said minimum guaranteed speed not maximum.

But the important point you've missed is is it limited to a certain amount of data per month? That is really key to most people, maybe not you

Yes, limited to 100Gb/month, but I think we've determined, I'm not a big phone user. Most of my data is used by friends using my mobile hotspot. 100Gb/month is a virtual unlimited for a user like me.

Wouldn't disagree but it's the most important criteria when talking about these things

Indeed, there is no such thing as an "unlimited" data package, they all have restrictions on bandwidth or data or both.

No, but for your average user, 100Gb/month High Speed should be more than adequate. It is actually unlimited, but will slow down when the 100Gb limit is reached.

I used to get by on 4Gb as well, but for just 150฿/month, I get free phone calls and a hell of a lot of data. How much does your 4Gb cost?

Actually the 4GB is what I have in the UK and although that’s not specifically relevant to what you have been discussing, it’s more than enough to meet my needs for use when I’m outside - in the house I connect to my WiFi network.

In Thailand I don’t even have a monthly plan, if I need to connect to a 4G signal when outside I use my wife’s phone as a hotspot!!
