Strange, I had exact opposite experience

As I've posted before when I was last in UK(Cheshire) 5 to 10 yrs ago, being a keen golfer I was always on the weather apps. I found them(mostly Met Office) to be very accurate

The weather is getting very unpredictable everywhere. Four seasons in a day (well, two in Thailand) is becoming very common!

According to ThaiMet we had 34mm of rain in Hua Hin( or rather at the weather station in Soi 51/53).

This was only one third of the average for August so we are still well behind for the calendar year overall.

In the Black Mountain immediate area it was 79 mm for all August
It does not matter where you come from, it's where you are going that matters.

Come on, chaps, the weather in Hua hin is generally predictable and hasn’t changed in any material way for centuries.

How about come on 2/cb?

This thread is clearly not for you. Leave it to us weather anoraks!

If weather in HH is so predictable then why are we over 40% down on average rainfall after 8 months this year?

We're having a dry year so far anyway. That clearly doesn't interest you but it does others

Thanks

Although, as other posters have shown, is that even within a relatively small area of Hua Hin, the amount or rain varies considerably so it’s only a guide for the area.

Typhoon Yagi

Will any of it get here? Check the below link over the next 24 hours. To me at the moment it looks as if it has split into two storms, with the western part actually forming a small second eye for a short time.

.....New storm warning

The Meteorological Department on Tuesday warned that heavy rain is likely across the country, with strong winds and high tides along the Andaman coast and in the upper Gulf of Thailand until Friday.

The weather office said it was watching a low pressure system to the east of the Philippines that could gain strength and develop into a tropical storm before it makes landfall in northern Vietnam on Friday.

This could bring more heavy rain to much of Thailand......

I love impressive weather. We rarely see it in HH, and when we do it sadly means that deaths are occurring in The Andaman Sea and across other parts of Thailand. Living in a nice safe house I can take this view of heavy storms and typhoons. I feel for Thai people who are not so lucky.

NNT- National News Bureau of Thailand
·
Satellite images from Sunday morning (Sep 29) have indicated an increase in rain clouds and thunderstorms across Thailand’s Northern and Upper Northeastern regions and Bangkok and its surrounding areas. Storm activity is also intensifying around the center of a tropical storm located east of Luzon Island in the Philippines, which is expected to strengthen into a typhoon by the end of the day and track west-northwest towards Taiwan.

In Thailand, the weather instability is driven by a low-pressure system currently over northern Vietnam, combined with fluctuating wind patterns. By Monday, a moderate cold air mass from China is forecasted to move into the region, leading to shifts in wind direction in the northern parts of the country. As the cold air collides with existing warm air, it is expected to generate easterly and northeasterly winds in the North, while westerly and southwesterly winds will prevail over the Andaman Sea.

This convergence is expected to trigger heavy to very heavy rains in the North, Northeast, Central, and Eastern regions, including Bangkok and nearby provinces. The pattern is likely to persist through early October, bringing continuous rainfall to the affected areas.

The Southern region will begin to experience the impact from October 2 to 5, with scattered heavy rains anticipated as the weather system shifts. Residents in at-risk areas are advised to prepare for possible disruptions and localized flooding.

Cool climes due later
The cool season will set in slightly later than normal in the third week of this month but it will be generally colder than usual, according to the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD).

The cool weather will begin towards the end of the third week of the month and will last until the end of February, the TMD said yesterday. The start of the season comes a little later than usual, it noted.

The mercury is forecast to drop to the lowest point of between 6-8C in the upper North and upper Northeast.

In Bangkok, the temperature is expected to dip to the lowest point of between 16-18C and the surrounding provinces to between 14-16C.

The coolest temperatures will be experienced from early December to January, according to the TMD. Cool temperatures will also be felt in parts of the South, particularly in the upper section of the region.

Heavy rainfall is predicted over the eastern coast between November and December, with possible flash floods.

Tropical storms may be brewing from next month to December. These could move towards the Gulf of Thailand and the South, bringing heavy downpours and gusty winds to coastal communities.

Thunderstorms, strong winds and possible hail may also occur in the upper North in January and February.

https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/ge ... -due-later

So what they're saying is it might be cooler, it might rain more, there might be tropical storms, and it might flood again ... glad the TMD is on the ball.
