Its still midnight, the cops were out in force shutting bars in sois 80 and 94 over the weekend.

I've seen the Elephant bar advertising their daily opening times today as 5pm until 1pm.

My son was up early this morning, and was walking down Soi 94 to the beach at about 4:30am to do some light training. Some friends saw him walking by, and called him into a bar where he sat talking (not drinking) with them for an hour, before continuing to the beach. The fact they saw him walking by at 4:30am does not indicate a lock-in. His friends were drinking without any restriction.

I repeatedly say it, not all bars seem to be affected. Obviously, I can't name the bar, just in case it was doing something wrong.

The three bars that I went to over the weekend all closed at midnight following a police patrol down the soi. What advantage do I have lying about this as it appears to be insinuated more than once on this thread?

Obviously, some bars pay more under the table than others, so it seems the police could be selective in closing or threatening bars that don't or are not 'connected' with them. There is still fear among many HH bar owners over this crackdown, I've spoken to them, why would I make this up? :banghead:

No, I can understand the frustration. There's nothing worse than inconsistency.

This is why I asked earlier in the thread what the official closing times were, and nobody could answer. It simply means goalposts are easily moved, and everybody has their own version of the truth.

I really appreciate all the contributions on this thread. Midnight has generally been the official closing time, in my experience, with man bars staying open until 1,2, or all night sometimes.
This is Thailand and I love it.
Back in the UK atm, and all I think about is returning.

I should just point out that when I said my local bar was staying open until 01:00 in early September, that was out in Hin Lek Fai and not in the city.
I'm back in Europe so I don't know what is happening now.
