Thought I was saying to the OP that it had changed?
I've walked the beach, off and on, for 9 years. It did go downhill a few years ago. I bet if I go down there at 8am on Tuesday, there will be a big cleanup operation underway. And it's low season, but after a 4 day weekend. I'm afraid to say that most of the rubbish is left behind by the Thais, but I'll say again that I've been impressed over the past few years at how the local authorities are trying to keep the stretch between The Sofitel and The Marriott clean. Thought I'd made that clear in my post?
Sorry lomuamart,
I wasn't disagreeing with what you had said, in fact your post concurs with what I've seen. However, subdoedel was talking 'last New Year Holiday' - January, and High Season I presume.
In the same way as you said that it will be a mess after this weekend's holiday, with Thais leaving too much rubbish, is there a similar problem in High Season with a lot of Farang leaving rubbish?
I will be taking my early morning strolls along the beach again in a few days time, I hope that I too can post a positive report - if previous visits are anything to go by, that shouldn't be a problem. I'll maybe take my camera along as well, just to capture the vast expanses of clean beach.
