Satellite Tv

What's everyones opinion on satellite Tv. I like most sports particularly Rugby 14's and soccer but I'm put off by all the negative stuff about True. JSAT seems a good option. Anyone have some thoughts

What do you mean with negative stuff about True Television?
You can watch Rugby and soccer there, so what's the negative aspect?
I'm on UBC but don't understand the negative aspects though.
Some like it, some don't.
It's tv.
Isn't it?

The Bangkok Post today and for the past few weeks have published critiques. I agree Tv is Tv but if some are driven to complain in the National media there may be grounds to question the service. "Theres no smoke ithout fire!!!"

I have UBC in Pattaya but , to be honest, it is pretty abysmal in it's content.

I was hoping it would be like the UK 'Sky' programing but it was so lacking in content that I never renewed the viewing card when it ran out!

I have seen some quit large receiving dishes on my travels round HH so does anyone know what alternatives are available to it ?

The big dishes are for the FTA (Free To Air) satellites. I have a moveable dish and am able to receive both C-band and Ku band. A lot of the programming is coded, so you may need a smart card in the receiver to get some channels.

In Bangkok, I get the whole range from Thaicom 2/5 (78.5 deg E) through Intelsat 2/8 (169 deg E). An Australian friend gets his rugby fix off Australia Network on Intelsat 8, but you need a receiver that can accept a smart card. I believe he got the card for free the last time he was in Oz.

You'll probably want a 10' dish, the 7.5' just about pulls in a signal.
