Thai Archeology?

Post by PeteC »

This post has no information, just questions. We need experts to comment.

I've been watching some shows and reading lately about Thai history which suggests that almost each and every field north of Bangkok, south of Chiang Mai and west of that line should be filled with ten's of thousands of war relics, elephant bones and warrior bones from the Thai/Burma conflicts of centuries ago. The area near where Thailand, Cambodia and Laos meet should be similar.

All I ever see published on this subject from time to time is reference to dinosaur bones found in the usual places they have already uncovered decades ago. Never reference to battle relics or any new sites discovered.

Perhaps being tropical versus most of the West, everything has deteriorated and is gone. Or, is it just a third world country thing where they are not aware or interested yet in things such as this?

Given Asian emphasis on their ancestors, I would have thought this topic would be a hot button here.

Is Thai ancient history so fragmented and not taught in schools that there is no desire to uncover things such as these? Pete :?
