Shops selling music and arts items

Post by Bamboo Grove »

One of my daughters has started playing a thai musical instrument called "khim" in school. I need to buy her one as the school requires this. At the same time the other one is interested in fine arts, so I´ll get her some equipment as well. Does anybody know where to buy these things
A. In Hua Hin (probably not available)
B. In Bangkok

BG,

I would have thought that as the school requires you to buy a khim, they would be best placed to advise you where to purchase one. There may even be a discount if everybody goes to the same place.

I know 2 shops that sell musical instruments.

One is just by the non-aircon bus station near the railway line.
If you're coming up from the railway station, instead of going left over the railway line to G Supermarket, go straight ahead and it's just on the right.
It's quite a small shop - they do sell guitars and other items, not sure if they sell khims. Certainly worth a try though.

The other shop is just past Market Village on the right heading south out of town.
That's a much bigger place with a wide range of instruments (probably more expensive though) and they have a music school on the premises as well.

Big Boy: The schools answer to the enquiry was: They should sell them in Petchaburi.
Barrys: Thanks, I´ll go and have a look.

Well, you'd better get yourself up there and buy one then :?

Seriously, I'm amazed at that response. However, TIT. My response was what I would have done if my son had come home from his English school with such a statement. In England, if there is nowhere local, the school usually will arrange to order one for you.
