Guardian.co.uk.
Police hunting a paedophile seen sexually abusing young children in newly unscrambled pictures believe they have identified him as a teacher of English who may now be in Thailand.
The suspected child abuser was identified by five different sources from three continents as a man teaching at a school in South Korea, Interpol said.

His name, nationality, date of birth, passport number, and current and previous places of work have also been established, after more than 350 people worldwide contacted Interpol in response to a global appeal.

The international police organisation released a picture of the man, who flew from Seoul to Bangkok international airport on Thursday, where his image was captured by security cameras.
Earlier last week Interpol said the man had appeared in 200 images on the internet sexually abusing young boys in Vietnam and Cambodia.

Some of the boys were as believed to be as young six.

His face had been distorted by swirls. But the images were unscrambled by experts from German's federal police agency. Pictures were then published on Interpol's website.

He is said to have distinguishing marks on his body that would prove he is the man in the photographs if he is eventually found.

The manhunt has been codenamed Vico because of the links to Vietnam and Cambodia.

But today the secretary general of Interpol, Ronald Noble, said Thailand was now the focus for the search.

He said: "The response and contribution we have had from the public has been remarkable, as has the support from the media, which has enabled officers in our specialised unit, our office in Bangkok and police in other member countries to make such remarkable progress in such a short space of time."

Mr Noble called for the public's continued support to pinpoint the man's new location.

I expect him to be arrested very soon. Where can he go? Not so easy for such a high profile case to hide in Thailand. Guess he is sweating right now. Not looking forward to prison where his fellow inmates will show him what they think about child abusers. (If he is not Dutch because then they will lock him up separated from his colleagues to "protect" him.)

I cannot see Interpol yet. TT&T have not fully recovered form their regular weekend web server outage.

The problem sometimes with photos for me is that people never seem to look the same twice. The photos that Dave has posted look like three different people to me. The bottom two look similar but only like brothers to me.

Why is it that the vast majority of pedophiles that go for very young children go for boys.

Nobody yet has given me a satisfactory argument as why these people should not be castrated.

Anybody who has read Chinese history (1421 for example) will know that cutting off two parts of the three piece sweet and maybe even all three completely changes the personality of the man for the good. All the bad male desires and irrational aggressive behavior goes with the balls.

Vico the paedophile spotted in Thailand

"Thailand is at the centre of an international manhunt and authorities in the country, in cooperation with Interpol and police around the world, are hunting him down," Interpol chief Ronald Noble said.

The hunt centres on a Canadian paedophile seen abusing young boys in pictures released by Interpol. He has been identified as an English teacher who is now in Thailand. Interpol has given him the nickhame "Vico".

Interpol announced Monday it had identified the man it accuses of posting pictures of himself raping young boys in Vietnam and Cambodia, a week after issuing an unprecedented appeal for help.

The suspect flew from South Korea to Bangkok last Thursday, where security cameras documented his arrival at immigration, the Lyon-France based organisation said, citing help from South Korean and Thai authorities.

Interpol has also determined the man's name, nationality, date of birth, passport number and current and previous work places, but provided none of those details in its statement.

However, Thai police were not so reticent and said the man was a 32-year-old Canadian.

Pol Col Apichart Suriboonya told the AFP news agency the suspect arrived in Thailand last Thursday.

"Thai police are collecting evidence and information from neighouring countries and other Interpol members to seek a court order for an arrest warrant,'' he said.

"The response and contribution we have had from the public has been remarkable," said Noble, who also praised the media for publicising the search.

International police and prosecutors are still collecting and analysing evidence to bring charges against the man.

Agreed. Its not so barbaric as it sounds and makes absolute sense. Also, if the punishment fits, the newly made eunuch should be force fed his "meat and 2 veg" to drive home the message, or they could be used as props in the TV program Fear Factor?

Paedophile suspect Neil arrested

Christopher Paul Neil, a 32-year-old teacher, was held in the north-east of the country, suspected of abusing boys in 200 online images.

Interpol had appealed for help after experts unscrambled digitally-swirled internet photos of the suspect.

He arrived in Thailand last week from South Korea, where he had been working as an English teacher.

Police across Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam had been searching for Mr Neil since he arrived in the region.

"My officers arrested him in the countryside in Nakhon Ratchasima this morning," tourist police chief Chuchart Suwannakom told Reuters news agency.

Nakhon Ratchasima is around 250 km (150 miles) north-east of the Thai capital, Bangkok.

Police said he would be returned to Bangkok later in the day for questioning.

The arrest follows lengthy efforts to identify a man seen in more than 200 online images of alleged sexual abuse involving young boys.

The man's face had been digitally scrambled, but the international police agency Interpol used software to create a usable image of their suspect.

They then launched their first-ever global appeal to the public for information that would help them identify the man.

Earlier this week, Mr Neil was named as a suspect. Footage from a security camera at Bangkok airport recorded his entry into Thailand on 11 October.

Police had been searching for him since.

Mr Neil, from British Colombia, has been teaching at schools in Thailand, South Korea and Vietnam since 2000.

That's good news. Wonder if he'll do time here, or be extradited to one of the countries where the offences took place, or back home. That's going to make a huge difference.

There is actually a better article on Reuters:

http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/ ... 4820071019
He could face up to 20 years in jail if convicted in Thailand, where he once taught at an English language school.
Twenty years is a fifth of what you get for smuggling dope in Thailand, a sentence close to 100 years. Something is very wrong with this picture.

Wrong. Modern studies with rapists (for adult women) and chemical castration show that offenders show their rage & power by raping in other ways, with broken bottles, for instance. While I hate paedophiles, I don't think chances should be taken that the acts on the children could be even more damaging.

Put them in with the general prison populace when they get caught. Problem sorted without the taxpayers having to shell out. They'd be lucky to survive a week & that week wouldn't be pleasant.
