OK ABout this 24 hour reporting
I returned yesterday from a visit to Malaysia and having read the recent posts about 24 hour reporting I went to HH immigration to check.
YES they are imposing the 24 hour reporting requirement at immigration in Hua Hin.
Whatever your visa, if you leave the country, irrespectinve of any visa you may have, you MUST report to HH Immigration within 24 HOURS of re-entry otherwise you will be fined for not doing this.
Interestingly, after a quick trip to Bangkok aiirport (details on another post) the Immigration at Suvarnambhumi seemed bemused as to why HH Immigration was doing this but accepted that local immigration offices have the right to do so if they wish

All very well in principle, but you must surely know that you're thinking too logically. You could be shouting Bo***cks all the way to the bank!

I have also just returned from Malaysia .

I am now three days late for a 24 hour report , should one be required .

I have asked many friends ,with a variety of visa types ,about this over the last 24 hours .None of them have come across it , although some have heard rumours .

I have to get the standard letter from HH Imm sometime soon in order to transfer my new car into my name, and thus get the white plate .I will need to show copies of passport and visa (plus a little tip) to acheive said letter in a timely fashion. I will let you know how I get on once they examine my paperwork .All of which is in order .

Whilst , in my experience , it is a bad idea to upset officials here , a far worse mistake is to let them take the piss .Those that get away with it will continue to do so .Again and again and again . Most are happy with a small incentive to make things a little smoother but there are a few very rotten apples out there .

Whilst it is easy to get scammed , it is easier not to .

Know the rules , always smile , be polite , stand your ground .

Above all do not let these things wind you up .Life is too short .

Stamp your feet, threaten to throw a fit and write to your MP.
That'll show them they can't do what they want in their own country!

Never done it. Never been asked to. Never had to. Never had a problem.

I'm afraid they will get you for this 24 hr. thing the next time you set foot inside immigration. We went in early Sept. to get a proof of residency and they got us then. 800 bt. x 2. Perhaps they're raising funds for their future immigration office!

Out of interest, if this is only HH Immigration, as it seems, how would it be for people who usually never have to set foot in HH Immigration (those on a year's multi-entry visa for example, who instead of reporting do a 3-monthly border hop)? They must surely be "exempt" unless they have to visit HH Immigration for some other matter?

I'm guessing, but would assume this 24 hour business would only apply to those who have extensions - for some crazy reason.
Those on a multi-entry visa never stay in the country continuously for over 90 days, so there's no reporting requirement.

Dial 1111 which is a new 24/7 government helpline. They speak very good English and will tell you that there is no requirement to report within 24 hours on entering the country for whatever reason.
