In Hua Hin since 07/22 looking to rent townhouse or bungalow

Help! Our luggage is in Bangkok waiting for a home.

I've been up and down the sois looking for a rental with a year or maybe two year's lease. Need a 3 (or 4 ) bedroom Thai or Western style townhouse or bungalow, doesn't matter.. Near the sea is pretty important, but ideally not the rocky beach near the King's Palace.

Hope to rent for no more than 16,000 baht max., but really looking for something more like 14,000 baht.

Two boys in school, one son in Somtawin EP and the other son probably at Stamford, although I haven't compared curriculum strength/differences for Computer Science/Business major at Webster yet, so choice of university is still undecided. .. Does anyone know?


Suggestions or leads on this? We really prefer not to be in a community far from the city center and living in an area with more falang that Thais.

I'll buy dinner and beer at Lek Lek for help in finding a good place to rent!

Your post begs the question - if you're coming over here for so long, why on earth didn't you find somewhere before?
I hope you just have luggage in BKK and not your worldly possessions.

Whoa. There's a lot of heat coming from more than HH weather.

Lomuamart, I have a son in Bangkok. He's here helping me transition now, and will be with me at least a month. He speaks Thai fairly well and has some degree of familiarity with SE Asia. I expect four years of living and traveling throughout don't amount to much compared to those of you who may be more "seasoned."

I have been reading this forum and have several times posed questions, and more often than now, my posts were met with a judgemental slant rather than helpful information.

Of course I have researched! But until one is somewhat acquainted firsthand with a bit of experience and knowledge of HH, I don't see why it was foolhardy (or whatever) to come to HH without a place lined up to rent.

I've found several places worthy of consideration, and I've not ruled them out. I don't feel stuck or in a bind. Just looking for a friendly response or welcoming gesture ~ and maybe a bit of Thai-style friendly help.

BTW, it IS only luggage in Bangkok that awaits a home. I'm not crating a household of furnishings. A semi-furnished bungalow or townhouse is perfect, and I know (firsthand) that those options are available to me. Simply put, I haven't rushed into a decision and can afford to look a bit more and know the city better. Don't understand why that's such a bad thing.

Gaijin ~ fine ~ a bit of time is quite alright with me. Can always rent a place for a month or two while "casually" scouting for something a bit more permanent in nature.. an odd use of the concept of permanence, as I can't thing of too much of anything that's permanent. Always exceptions and ones' perceptions to consider..

Do most people go through life anticipating every obstacle around the bend?

Enough. I'm away from this internet cafe for now, leaving with a smile and light heart to walk the streets for a bit.

I have been moving around HH for the past few years so have more than enough experience house hunting. My observations can be read here:

Mostly negative unfortunately, but then again I'm fussy when it comes to where I live. You have two options basically:

1) Get a place through a real estate agent. You will pay over the odds and tourist prices but its relatively hassle free.

2) Get around the areas and look yourself, most rentals have a sign with their contact details on the gate. Give them a call and arrange a viewing. Then the negotiations begin!

Be prepared for a lot of hassle if you want a fair deal.

Behind the Grand Hotel there are townhouses. Some are 3bdrm - maybe 4. I found many "For Rent" signs on the gates. The rents ARE negotiable. Rent varies from 7000 - 10,000 per month.They are not "High End" but would do for a few months - some are much nicer than others. I found a great 3bdrm townhouse 30 meters from the beach through the local papers. Usually one listing results in several properties being shown through a private owner. Hang in there and good luck. It all worked out for me and I gave myself 2 trips from BKK to find a house - this was all within the last six weeks.

Okay, I leased a place for a year.

I just wrote a lot and lost it all after I was asked to sign in (again). Enough is enough for now.

I'm real happy with close access to South Takiab Beach on the other side of Phetkasem Road.

Property managers, I must add - pretty damn good! PM me if you'd like the particulars.

I have a 2 bedroom townhouse which I am looking to rent for less than you suggested. Maybe too small for you and your sons, but if you're desperate then short term no problem.

if you have not found a house yet, i can highly recommend Janos at Scandi Realty. he found a wonderful rental for me. he currently has a 6 bedroom, thai style for 10,000 baht per month, payable a year in advance, 1/2 block from palace.
