I can remember my visits to Chiang Rai in the early '90's .. the NA was played on loud speakers and all traffic stopped. Some drivers got out of their cars and stood at attention. Samlors stopped. Pedestrians stopped and stood at attention. People sitting in outside venues stood.

I kind of liked it.

I remember the national anthem being played twice a day in the Siriraj Hospital in Bangkok. Everybody standing at attention and patients sitting upright in their beds if physically possible. No way you would even think about moving on with hundreds of people around you showing respect. I liked it. Kind of special Thailand thing. People love their country and love their King, nothing wrong with that. But I would not recommend stopping the traffic for it. Obviously impractical and dangerous.
We are all living in 'the good old days' of the future.

I think you'd work it out - probably when you've just rammed the car in front of you.

God bless those who stop on suicide crossing particularly if the train driver can't hear his radio

I've never heard the national anthem played on loudspeaker in HH either apart from schools and even they do it at their own convenience (not on the dot at 8am)

A wild guess at the reason for this is that the king himself does not wish it. Having listened/read many of his speeches, he has indicated many times his disagreements regarding some of the actions carried out in his name. He's a very wise man, whom I have every respect for, and I'm sure he would not want a law of this nature.
