Household & Personal effects imported

Post by PET »

When I left Uk last month I shipped my personal and house contents because I had read the Thai Customs info which said that items must arrive within 6 months after my departure from Uk. For Foreigners I needed a visa from Immmigration for not less than I year. I have a Non Immigrant O Visa valid until next November. The Bangkok import agent ( Schenker ) now informs me that I need a Work Permit to import duty free and they want my Original Passport.
The ship arrives 0n 27 Dec so can anybody enlighten me as to what the procedure is?
Incidentally the Siam Legal web site also confirms that my goods can be imported with the documentation I already have

I imported on a O visa. Did not need work permit - never heard of this being needed. Maybe the customs are angling for a bit of pocket money
