Not sure you'll need it for the cert but you will need it if you want to book into any hotels.

You will not need your passport to get the cert or a copy of it .You might need it to check into some resorts,rent a vehicle etc .If you elect only to carry copies make sure you have a copy of the visa and entry stamps as well .
