What R your thoughts on solar power for an electric powered gate. Are there any outlets (pun intended) in HH active enough to do the work and costs??

You would have more chance than when they fitted solar powered parking meters in Nottingham and found out there wasn’t enough sun. The company they bought them from in Miami couldn’t understand what the problem was!
There was an English guy in Hua Hin who had a company distributing solar equipment, but I don’t have any contact details; perhaps someone else knows him.

The devil made me do it the first time.
The second time I did it on my own.

There are a couple of companies in Thailand dealing in Solar power products. But for your question: why would you want to? Unless you can find a low voltage (12 or 24 Volt) motor for the actuator, then you would need a battery bank, a DC to 220 Volt inverter and all of the associated electronic control equipment to go with it. Even with a 12 / 24 Volt motor you would still need a battery bank and charging equipment.

Here is one company, but if you Google it there are a couple of others.

Sun Generation Thai Co.Ltd. 8/31 Soi Pananchai, Nonggeh, Khao Takiab, Hua Hin Thailand 77110. Tel: 66 3 253 6762 Fax: 66 3 253 6762 ...
May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!

Hi there Y'all!!!

my aunti has put up 40 some small amorphic Solar Panels up @ her Gerden House in Hua Hin since 2006. They are hooked up to a small Battery down under the house which provides all the power to the it needs for the day. But through changing weather those Panles are put under a lot of stress and some are allready broken and needed to be replaced. The solar Planesl act also as roof for the praked Car. So not a Bad Idea! Right now she had rented the house out to someone.
