Songkran Cancelled in Hua Hin

Post by Jockey »

Due to the critical water shortage in Hua Hin, officials have decided it is not appropriate to celebrate Songkran in the vicinity unless there is torrential rain before 10th (they need 2 days to announce new decision).

Those wishing to celebrate Songkran can still do so in Cha Am.

Bugger! I had just come on to post that it would be a dry Songkran (ie bars would be closed) as an April Fool. Looks like I was beaten to it. :(

Anybody shed more light on this one?

Take a look here at legal penalties for disobeying things this Songkran.
Mind you, it's pretty much the same message every year and nothing ever gets done.
I did read that the pvc(?) pipes that can really give out a strong jet of water were going to be under scrutiny this year, but I can't find the source.

Reckon it'll just be a free for all in the centre of town later on anyway. If the cops try to stop it, there'll be a riot.
