Translation: F$%& off the lot of you, we'll tar you all with the same brush as we only want retirees who bring in their cash and stay in their leased houses out of the way.Hua Hin is a special city with a very peaceful atmosphere and the office is determined that no "bad farang" will be allowed to live in Hua Hin

so . . .
See if I have this right. No farang is allowed to do the following under threat of having his/her visa canceled and being deported ( especially if someone rats you out)to engage in work by exerting energy or using knowledge whether or not in consideration of wages or other benefits.
1. helping someone in your neighborhood or family learn English (unless on a teaching visa)
2. washing your car or motorcycle
3. doing your own laundry or ironing
4. changing your own tires
5. gardening (raising orchids?) in your own garden
6. repainting your kitchen
7. installing a new light switch ( a new bulb?)in your home
8. watering your lawn
9. singing in public ( without a performance visa)
10. cleaning your house, making your own bed
11. carrying your own golf clubs
Is anyone else finding this law ( if that indeed is all it says ) particularly silly? But of course this comes from the same folks who gave us the law against wearing camouflage shorts a couple weeks ago.

Last month the Thai authorities decided to have a crack down on the sale of military style clothing, supposedly due to the fact that Southern insurgents could disguise themselves as members of the military.Big Boy wrote:Chas wrote:What law was that?the same folks who gave us the law against wearing camouflage shorts a couple weeks ago.

Chelsea, I think if you'd ever had a business in Pattaya you might think differently about what is, after all, the Thai law. Its OK saying 'wheres the harm' in helping your staff out etc. and yes, we've probably all done it at times. I certainly have on occassions when the cashier was off, or it was very busy. But always always with one eye on the door for fear of being caught. Its not a good situation to be in, but when in Rome play by the rules or accept the consequences.
