It's not god's country it's Poland by the Sea!
It once was but It and England as a whole really are going downhill fast.

And I'm sorry to offend you but my heart lies with the mighty reds of Bristol City!
I'm old enough to have enjoyed watching them in the old 1st Division way back when!

No offence, each to his own.

So which part of New Poland are actually from? I guess its one of the resorts judging by your 'by the Sea' comment.

No actually, I used to live in Dartmouth but have steadily moved closer to Somerset without actually crossing the border.
If I have to live in England, Devon is it.
If I can get remote working and a decent internet connection sorted out I will be in Thailand before the year is out, hopefully to stay, but even if not once we finally leave the UK I cannot see me ever coming back.

Dartmouth could be considered a semi-resort, and must be classed as being borderline English Riviera. Were you connected with the military in any way?

A long journey to Ashton Gate every week - especially as you'd have had to pass so much talent on the way (Plymouth, Torquay and Exeter.

Remote working in Asia for a UK Recruitment firm seems a bold move - I wish you luck with your plans. You're going to get there before me.

It's a nice change to hear from somebody who is really keen to know about HH before arrival and sounds so interested.
Sandman mentioned Pattaya of course, and I think is referring to a bar on Soi Yamato? Anyway, as a female can I put my 2 pence worth in about Brit female 'other halves'. On my early trips to LOS before I knew HH existed, it was Bangkok and Pattaya. Used to stay in the Pavilion Place Hotel on Patpong 2, and had some great nights in the bars and eateries down there. I always found the staff in those places were very welcoming to farang females who were with a farang guy. Same goes for a lot of places in Pattaya.
These days I would head straight for Sukhumvit Soi 11 area in Bangkok and for 3rd Road in Pattaya, but thats probably only due to getting to know different folks in Bangkok, and the 'migration' of bars in Pattaya.
HuaHin by comparison is pretty tame, and if Mrs Macnet is open minded they won't have a problem IMO

Been to Buffalo Bar yonks ago Johnny - but no, more like Mr Loys (although I know he's probably long gone now) and Texxan. Also - not as far as 3rd Road - OK Corral. Used to get about a bit in Pattaya with darts and quiz leagues, but daren't cross 2nd Road last time!

Come on you lot...
Macnet 1 asked us all for advice and got very little (yet another post that
turned into a chat-room).
What do we know that could boost this couples stay...?

* Check for jelly-fish before swimming in the sea.
* Check for sharks...normally trying to sell you a house.
* you can always tell a katoy...its the one with the attitude strutting up
and down the street like the 'big-I-am'.
* If you're staying at one of the larger hotels, check the bar tarrif,-
(the Marriot wants 95b for water/soda water Singha sml.158b)
* ask a tuk-tuk driver the fee before the ride,(after you've asked a local
or expat the real price to 'Monkey-Mountain').
* Never go to 'Monkey-Mountain' with any type of bag if intending to
go feed the monkeys..."err darling, the monkey up in that tree is
taking a picture of us ..with YOUR camera-phone!"
* Every bar caters for Scots, not just ones with Scottish-sounding names.

So you you lot, are you gonna add to this list or contest it??
Stick around Macnet 1...you may even learn summat....ha!

Five of us went to Pattaya back in 2003.
I was 29 and my brother and his friends were 20
We arrived teatime ish and i was booking the plane out
before midday the next day....Whilst i was waiting for
the tickets we hired a Yamaha R1 1000cc sportsbike
for a £5 for 45mins...had to be done....Left my passport
with a woman on the street....cringe now...

We had a laff but it was a bit too in your face in Soi 8/9
for the lads....as they got scooped off there feet and carried
into the bars by the girls...and getting pounced on by the toothless
Katoeys on the street in the shadows of a tour bus was
priceless...I'd like to give it a second chance someday...
Dont get me wrong we had a great time but it wasnt for us...
Always brings a smile to my face though.....

But discovering HH later on in the same hols brought balance.....

Just thought i would share a memory :D

Regards to all...
The only Geordie in sleepy Cha am since 2009

bell

Post by raphoedon »

Unless your feeling extreemly flush don't "ring a bell" in the bar 'cause as much as you may want to buy everyone, including the staff, a drink this is the one time when you lose control of questioning your bar bill.

Unless, of course, you are absolutely desperate for approval. :(

I'm sorry I did not realise that making these threads interesting to read as well as informative was a crime - If that is the case is there a Hua Hin chat room ?
