Seriously though that could be a King Cobra, they are usually very shy and keep away from us - maybe its been disturbed by building work.
Thats one super dangerous Dave!

Looks like a Malayan Brown, they have those bands but I didn't think you got them this far north.

Shame you couldn't get a shot of its head. If you haven't already don't kill it, release it in the bush.

This could be everything from a harmless water snake to a highly venomous and deadly Pit viper.
Triangular nasty head = Pit viper, beautiful round pointed head=water snake.
Show us the head please!!

If its still there it may be shedding its skin, leave the door open to pumphouse and let it leave on its own. Don't mess with it, and as buksi says dont kill it. It would be cool to get a better picture!

With the variation in colour (color) that I spot in the picture; any change it are TWO snakes maybe?

DRINKING TOO MUCH

Post by huahinsimon »

Per my signature, maybe I'm drinking to much and seeing snakes.....

But no, it was real. I got the picture.

Didnt want to kill it, it was a beauty!! but also dont want the animals or children endangered.

Returned this morning with two Thai guys, camera and shovels in hands. No snake. From pictures in National Geo and Poisoneous snakes I really thing it is a King Cobra. It was quite thick in the middle, fast, and fleeing and tried to crawl up the wall but fell back before hiding in the pump house.

Guess its up to karma now. I'll be real careful when working in the yard.

Good for you Simon. And the snake is probably also very happy now it got away from you and is free again!

But what I was suggesting is that in your picture I see a brown colour with black bands and a quite different grey-ish colour. Therefore is it possible that we are looking at a picture of two snakes here? A brown one and a grey one?

HHS, A colleague of mine just sent me this photo of a snake he found on his patio in the outskirts of Bangkok which it looks similar to the one you posted. He thinks it might be some type of pit viper but he’s an aircraft engineer like me and no expert on the subject!
