Next time I come to Hua Hin I will have to regester my newly built home with the Municipality in order to get an address for the house.
I am just getting the documents ready for applying for this.
I understand that I will recieve a Blue Book when I apply.
Does anyone know how long this process takes

my understanding is:
the house initially has to be registered by a thai national/company as foreigners are not allowed on the blue book (tabien bahn), unless you have permanent residency.
i believe this can be done under a Limited Company
the blue book has your address on it which allows you to officially get a permanent electric and water meter
then a foreigner can apply for a yellow book and have your own name in it, its a bit of a mission, you need certain documents confirmed by your embassy etc
you dont need to be on any book to be legal owner of house, the house is registered to you when you go to land office and register it/pay the tax, you get a certificate with your name on it - written in thai though !!
you can get the blue book within 1 week, but this may depend if you take the right person with you and/or a brown envelope
check all this with your solicitor though, in case i've naused something up
your solicitor and/or one of the estate agent 'legal' girls should do the blue book part for you for about 1,500 - 2,000 Baht

Ours is another example:
Our builder gave us the Blue Book, with address but no names (we're not Thai).
We went to Bangkok and went to our Embassy to have our passports guaranteed. Then, somebody standing outside the Embassy took us across the street where paperwork was done with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Cost about 2,000 baht and an overnight stay.
Back in Hua Hin, we had a Thai friend help us with the Yellow Book at the Tessabahn which was issued without any problem and minimal cost.
Seems like a lot of fancy footwork for getting a homeowner's book, but I'd bet that a Thai in America trying to get some legal work done scratches their head over our rules & regs just as much as we do over theirs.
