Thanks Buksida - having taken in your advice, to ensure no accommodation problems, we will cut short our travel from 2 overnight stays to 1, travel down early Sat morning on a reconnaissance mission and will report back. My plan is to get there before 10am(ish), find accommodation, then charter a boat to Koh Talu for half a day. Back on the mainland about 4/5(ish), then down to the restaurant, over to the "Why Not" for a beer and the EPL, back to our hut, sleep, get up and head for GK Restaurant for Sunday breakfast then slowly make our way home.

Not to put another crimp in your plans but most boats will only go out in the morning and return at about 12-1pm as the wind usually picks up then and the sea can get a little choppy.

The photos are beautiful. I was toying with the idea of visiting there for a couple of days, now I think will definitely pay it a visit. How long a drive is it from Hua Hin?

Yep all included, the boat trip costs about 300 baht per head or you can charter it. If you go from Bangsaphan Noi you get the Thai price - if you take a trip from the Coral resort it costs triple (the boat is nicer though!).

These were taken at the island Koh Talu, the reef is all fringing so its close to the shore, depths are around 3-6 meters so it can all be done snorkeling and free diving. Scuba is also available, then you'll get to see more of the pristine coral that has had less tourists stomping on it!

Beautiful photos, many thanks. I never thought that such nice corals ever existed in that part of Thailand. I will visit it as soon as I get wheels!

buksida, as a frequent, if not lazy visitor to hh the only thing to remove me from the chilled atmosphere was when the airport was still open and I flew to Samui for 4 days. It was nice enough but expensive a two hour drive to bang sapan and their lovely beaches looks a definite this trip.(mid may)
Thanks for providing the link.
