I use the shopping mall and Big-C in Korat as it’s less than an hour from our place in Nong Ki, but I have to say that most of the farangs I see there are more the older retired crowd who are in from their wife’s villages.
A while back I found a marvelous sort of open air beer-garden type place which I think was down the road a bit from the Irish bar mentioned above. I haven’t a clue what it was called, but it was one of the nicer places I’ve drank in Thailand. One thing that sticks in my mind was that there was an elephant taxi to take you home, which isn’t quick but it certainly makes a change.

Sounds like that could be the PB restaurant, turn left just past the hotel immediately over the flyover, if heading from the direction of Bangkok. I know where some photos are, but it would meaning nicking them from another forum!
