We are remodeling a condo and needed some money to pay for it. Called our bank in New Zealand at 7:45 in the morning, two hours later 9:45 our bank in HH called us to let us know the money was in and to come in and sign the papers for it.

The 2 hours is very typical in the time required if we call early in the morning, afternoon in NZ. That is with the Bank of Ayudyha.

Perhaps also try the Post Office, nearly every Post Office in Australia is an agent for Western Union

The post office in the UK are agents for Moneygram.

Works exactly the same as Western Union and the money can be picked up from any Siam Commercial Bank.

Around 12 Uk banks are introducing a one day transfer to other banks from telephone instructions or internet banking.

The commencement by some banks is late May and others are phasing it in over the next few months.

This system does not do cross border payments and the advice on the site says contact your own bank. No change for transferring money to Thailand then.

Just got 63.6 to the pound Much better than the 61 I got last time .Bank of Ayudhya .Phone today,here tomorrow excluding public holidays etc.

I learnt a lesson when I was transferring my first deposit for my new house! I transferred the amount in baht (internet bank). My exchange rate turned up to be 6 % higher than the normal one (in Sweden...). The explanation I got was that Thai banks must (according to law) use the "off-shore" exchange rate. I lost around 10.000 SKr (approx 700 pounds) on this transfer! I now have a foreign currency account at Bank of Ayudhya and transfer my money in SKr. The exchange rate to baht is far better!!
