Non-imm. B from Penang

Post by Roel »

Did anyone recently obtain a non-imm. B (single entry) from Penang?
I got copies of several company papers from my Thai employer (to do with registration and taxes I guess) and a document that shows that my work permit is applied for. Together with my passport, a few pasphoto's and some money that should do the job, right?

It should do the job but it does not hurt to call an agent in Penang or the consulate directly.

That's a good idea Elinas.
I used NJ Books Centre a few months ago. They're well known and on Chulia Street.
Email:
njbookscentre@hotmail.com
Tel:
++604 2616113
Mobile 016 4306474 (I assume you need the country code as well)

They were quick to reply to to an email, but I only managed a single entry Non O through them, not multi-entry that I was hoping for. Hopefully, they'll be able to put you straight on what documents are necessary.

You can fax the documents to te embassy for a pre check to make sure, worked for me. Saves a wasted journey.
Did this with embassy in Vientiane also - enjoyed that trip more than Malaysia.

Thanks for the tips. I will email NJbookscentre right away. I am pleasantly surprised to hear that the consulate in Penang provides this service of pre-checking documents. Good to hear that. But if the word spreads that they do this it will certainly stop overnight. I will post the outcome of my continuing visa adventures for the world to see.

I think NJ is the best in Georgetown for getting visas. He is also very helpful for suggesting hotels, transportation ect. Georgetown can be very fun if you know where to go. Avoid the touristy places on Penang Rd, and go into some Chinese karoke bars...how bizzare...how bizzare...but many laughs. I love the food in Georgetown...fantastic Indian curries.. :thumb: I miss the visa runs..........no i don't..... :shock:

I second NJ Books center, I have also used them in the past. Penang is a hit and miss for Non-Os multiple entry. There have been some reports of people who managed to get one year multiple entry through marriage by showing some money in a Thai bank.

I tried to check the Penang consulate's website to search for information but can only access the Thai version. But luckily:
You can fax the documents to te embassy for a pre check to make sure, worked for me.
Unfortunately not for me. I sent a fax and an email. No replies. I guess you were lucky that day JW because it is not really in the Thai consulate's interest to pre-check documents.

Next step:
I used NJ Books Centre a few months ago. They're well known and on Chulia Street.
Email:
njbookscentre@hotmail.com
Tel:
++604 2616113
Mobile 016 4306474 (I assume you need the country code as well)
I sent them a mail wherein I asked if they knew exactly what documents I will need in my situation. They replied!

"hai, when you have all of document we will make the non b visa, mr. ali thank you"

So I called them and they said I will need an invitation letter from my employer and proof that the work permit is applied for and "some papers from your company, but your company will know". As a matter of fact it was more like I told them this and they reluctantly confirmed probably just to get rid of the farang that thinks too much.

And that is right because my employer told me "don't worry, no probleeeem". So of I go then I suppose. Wish me luck.
