Noise pollution...

Post by Vital Spark »

I've had a pretty hectic week. I'm shattered and all I want to do is eat, and then sleep. The first bit was easy (courtesy of Parahandy) the second bit was more difficult, due to the fact that near neighbours were 'celebrating' their son's departure to a temple. Really crap Thai music played EXTREMELY LOUDLY with the bass up max. I swear I could feel the music playing through my teeth!

This morning, when I was really looking forward to a lie in, at 5am EXTREMELY LOUD MUSIC again - I thought that the window panes (minus putty) would shatter into tiny pieces. This carried on for a couple of hours. Half an hour break (for breaky I guess) then off again. We left the house, couldn't stand the noise any more, and came back late afternoon. Great! Music not so loud, but the guns were out. Rubble (aka snake wrangler) was nowhere to be seen. The poor lad was, understandably, terrified by the gunshots and had hidden somewhere. It took us 15 minutes to find him, by which time I was getting frantic.

The gunfire has stopped, but everybody (except us) and their friends are now joining in with incredibly bad Karaoke. At least the windows aren't rattling now, and they've obviously run out of ammunition. I may possibly be able to get to sleep...

Before anyone says, TIT and 'go with the flow', I understand both and I do usually go with the flow, but sometimes, just sometimes, I want to snip some wires (oh, the guns are going again) and throttle some people.

Good night!

my heart goes out to you angel....I have the same thing at 6 - 7am every sodding day. The little prats who live across from me seem to:

1) own a stereo whose amps and speakers used to be Motorheads on stage kit;

2) be completely oblivious to the fact they are the only ones who get up at that time;

3) be unaware that their son cant sing for toffees and that crap karaoke of the same song at 300db at 7am every day might just piss off the big mad farang over the road; and,

4) care not one jot that their daily antics wake the babies next door up (who start crying) and every dog in a 1 mile radius.

Mind you, their place backs up onto the railway so I guess they are stine deaf anyway

Seriously tho ..... if they are shooting guns off shouldn't you call the police in on them? I would. :cuss:

Nice idea SM, but probably not a good one. The partygoers are relatives of the pooyaibaan (village head man) - and that's why they have the guns and ammo. He thinks we're OK, and we nod and smile (in that kind of shrinking neck subservient way you do when you know that they have more power (or weapons) than you do :| ).

Oh, I did go to bed, it didn't work. I'll try another beer or two...

More crazy gun shots (a bit more worrying as drink/drugs take hold) - Rubble is sleeping inside the house tonight.

alternatively angel, y could always hire a massive PA, wait till they are sleeping off the hangovers, and then play the following at ear splitting volume on a loop tape for 8 hrs....

Sepultura (Roots Bloody Roots and CHAOS AD)
Ministry (New World Order and Stigmata)
Revolting Cocks (Beers, Steers and Queers)
Rammstien (Moskau, Ich Will, Sonne)
Killing Joke (Millenium, Eighties)
Korn (Did My Time)
Quarashi (Copycat)
System of a Down (Toxicity, Ariels, Holy Mountain)

for a laugh throw in some Wagner - Gottendamerung and Ride of the Valkyries.... just to give it that Apocalypse Now touch.

earplugs and beer are probably the safest the way forward tho....especially as they are armed

Or do what I did and move somewhere where the only noise poluters are cattle.

They polute the air a little as well.

We have the same problems, but fortunately mostly just on weekends when the Cha Am Beach Hotel has a show or group event....

Last night I could have gladly walked over there and killed them all.

It's amazing to me that the patrons of these places aren't both deaf and/or just as unhappy as we are at the noise level.

I feel really sorry for the poor people in the fishing village just next to our condo............they must have bought up all the earplugs in town.

I have a pair that I use regularly and they help a lot......give that a try.

It's the Wild East out there!!!
Open up the OK Corral Bar and get them to a bit of gunslinging outside. That might clear a few of them away.

What really annoys me is our first house was on a soi that lorries used as a short cut day and night it is amazing how many did not have working silencers. The other thing is these car and pickups that have the loudspeaker at about 200 decibels it is not necessary.
Woke up this morning breathing that's a good start to the day.

I feel for you VS - I know what its like to live next to noisy arrogant tossers. You really only have two options:

1) Move away.
2) Fight fire with fire, buy a 2 kilowatt Yamaha amp, some Woodstock sized speakers and the "If you want blood" album by ac/dc!

Some good suggestions of fighting fire with fire. Trouble is they'd probably think 'Oh, good. The boring old farangs are having a good time at last. Lovely music - I wonder if they'll invite us round to join them'

It has finally gone quiet. :D It started up at 4.30 this morning, and continued until about five minutes ago. The sacrificial, shaven-headed, doped-up young man has just disappeared up the road in the back of a ratty old pick-up.
