Clear Tile Sealant - Where To Buy

Post by Khao Tao Lions »

My wife and I have a property in Khao Tao, although live in London most of the year. We will be in Hua Hin in the next few days and want to find a clear tile sealant. Our driveway was tiled earlier this year but the tiles are porous and need sealing. Any ideas on where we can buy tile sealant or if there is anybody who could recommend someone to do the job

Buy it in London before you come. You won't save any money buying it here.

Thanks for the quick reply but not sure whether the airline will allow this even in the hold Plus the size of the area that needs sealing we would have to bring too much. Can it be bought from Home Pro or a specialist tile shop or hardware store?

Hi Redzonerocker, Not really sure of what type of tile. It's a brown/rusty hexagonal tile about an inch thick. The area must be about 20 feet by 20 feet. We have seen it in a few driveways on different devlopment but none have been sealed so after a while they become dull looking. We know it is not slate, terraccotta or marble

sounds like a clay, stone or quarry tile, not that it matters that much.
lithofin stainstop plus is the stuff i would recommend, its the biz!!.
this seals practically any stone surface & lasts for years.
it doesn't leave a glossy finish (that flakes off in time) like the cheap diy sealers.
dependant on how porous the stone is, a litre will cover about 8m2 using either a brush or a mini roller.
you will probably only need a litre
you can get lithofin products in various outlets but usually only specialist tile suppliers.
don't think you'll find them in your average diy stores :D

Thanks RZR,
I too was thinking about sealing tiles inside. From the sound of it they are the same as K T Lions tiles.
Can you give us the name and address of the shop or maybe a contractor who can supply and do the work.
Would appreciate any help.

Thanks for the info redzonerocker. If you are able to advise whether any specialist tile shops in Hua Hin sell it it would be greatly appreciated. In March of this year we tried the usual shops like Home Pro but were not successful. We arrive on Friday evening and were hoping to complete the job in the short time we are there but do not really want to spend hours/days looking for it. There are a couple of tile places on Petchkasem Road going towards Hua Hin Airport so maybe we could try there. Thanks again for coming back to us

not sure if any of the shops in hua hin will have it stocked.
would have been better if you bought it before you left the uk kt/lion.

i did find this info for you to check out (& oz uncle),

http://www.thestonedoctor-asia.com/index.html

they have a contact form & i would guess they would be based in bkk.

I have sent a message to the stone doctor but dont realy expect them to respond.
I dont want to spend a day in BKK looking for this Lithofin sealer so if anyone sees some in HH could they please post where.
I also prefer to support local businesses.
Thanks in advance.

Clear Tile Sealant

Post by Khao Tao Lions »

We did find a product in Homepro 'Thompsons Block Paving and Tile Sealant'. Bought it but did not get the chance on this holiday to use it so will have to wait until October before we can seal the driveway.
