Bad experience with local shop
I am new to HHAD and am not sure of the proper venue for this. I was associated with a family in Hua Hin for two and a half years. I found out with some others that we were being taken. I lost a 61 Gibson SG, a Fender fretless Jazz bass and a Fortuna Honda VFR to the family that owns the music shop by the railroad tracks and Spicy Nails at the Grand market. I saw the guitars hanging on the shop walls and the bike parked inside. This an ongoing problem with these people. In addition, I purchased a ZX9R from CP Bike shop and an employee stole the money given for the book (55,000 baht) and they refuse to honor my receipt.

Hi msjamielynn1 and welcome to the forum. It is a pity that your first post is dealing with such a topic and sorry to hear about your troubles. the first thing to ask though is has any of this been reported to the police? Accusations on HHAD are easily made but very hard to either prove or justify if the police have not been informed, although many expats don't have confidence in them it should still be done. If you have, what has their response been? Obviously we don't know the details of this, and I think it better that you don't post any more detail than you have as it could harm both your case and the forum, but general comments are OK.
I wish you luck in whatever action you take to resolve these problems but reiterate that the police are your best bet; if you have any Thai or Thai speaking friends I would advise you to get them to accompany you as well to make sure there are no misunderstandings (even if you speak Thai yourself).

Fully agreed. Unsubstantiated accusations should not be mad on the forum. You could be the business's competition or just have a grudge.Jim wrote:I'm sorry, but I don't see the point of the OP. There is no "can anyone help me get my money back" or "please be wary when dealing with...", there's just serious unsubstantiated allegations. I am happy to be proved wrong, but this smells like a wrong 'un.
If you are not a troll it sounds like you have left yourself fully exposed unless you lost all in one hit. If one bike had already been stolen why hand over 55,00 baht for another.
If you have any corroborating evidence then go to the police. If they can't get your money back, no-one can.

Which music shop near the railroad tracks? I know the owner of one (which is not open anymore) and I certainly don't believe the allegations if it's his shop you're talking about, and I'm sure he wouldn't like being slandered.
I don't know if there's another one down there, or not.

To everybody that responded to my post about my guitars and losses at the music shop next to the bus depot, thanks for good and bad responses. I have decided long ago that it was a loss with the family. I have pics, pi reports, registration cards, etc. The police are getting involved in the bike shop issue, although that was not my money. I own the bike and it is rented while I am out of town. As far as the other, it is a typical farang story. I met the daughter back in Bangkok and began a friendship. It turned into more and we married in May of 06 with guest including people from the King and Queen's guard. I spent a lot of time with the family and felt comfortable leaving my guitars upstairs at the shop. The black Fortuna Honda was bought in his name, my stupidity. The guitars I have picures of hanging on the shop walls. There is even a picture of Tom Dondee playing it. He hid them when he knew I wanted them back. Getting the police involved in this case doesn't help as many of them play cards in the shop at night. I let some of them even ride the bike. This whole thing was sort of a public affairs posting after I read a post that someone was looking for guitar strings and someone recommended him. Anybody who is interested in chatting with me, especially the person who said that they know them personally, can contact me direct at (deleted by mod) and I will provide information that is documented. I even have a letter from the US Government denying any visa for her or the family to the US. I forgot to mention that I am an XXY transgendered person who can legally marry. I used to ride the bikes a lot around Hua Hin but have a terminal illness that has me confined to bed right now.
