I'm heading back to HH in December for my yearly 5 week visit and each trip I rent a car for the drive from HH to (Chumni) Nangrong.
Each time I drive in Thailand I only use my Aussie Drivers licence ( I have been pulled over but never questioned about this licence) but friends who have recently returned from Thailand have informed me that the Thai police are clamping down on overseas licence's and advised me to get an International drivers Licence.
Is this so??

International Drivers Licence
See if you can find more details here: http://www.huahinafterdark.com/forum/th ... t9738.html
I intend to live forever - so far so good.
Re: International Drivers Licence
What everyone seems to overlook with this driving licence debate, is that if you are unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident, (which is your fault regardless of the facts), you are leaving yourself wide open to prosecution under the law.Irish Kev wrote:I'm heading back to HH in December for my yearly 5 week visit and each trip I rent a car for the drive from HH to (Chumni) Nangrong.

Get an International Driving Licence, it is simple, cheap insurance.

May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!
All of the major Hire companies will let you hire with a UK picture licence and you are fully covered by their insurance. However, it is best to additionally cover yourself with an international licence as this is the theoretical legal requirement in Thailand if you do not have a Thai licence.
The other point to bear in mind is that it is better to let a cheap inter licence disappear to a police station rather than your home licence if you do not want to pay an on the spot fine.
