Niggle i am not doubting what you say but if your girlfriend or wife is thai on what grounds would they want 2X800K just seems silly to me plus if she is your wife a mariage visa only needs 400K

If your spouse is, or is not, Thai it's 800k
If the spouse is non-Thai then it's the same.
Only one person needs to show that 800k and if they tell you any different, they are lying.
Immigration everywhere tried to get 800k times two if both applicants were aliens.
It didn't last too long.

you have "an extension to a visa". The visa itself could be 10 years old. It dosn't matter, the extension does though.

That's wrong.
The only reason "they" might ask for two times is if both spouses are alien.
The western spouse can "piggy back" on their principal.
