Hua Hin work permit and labour department
Hua Hin work permit and labour department
Unknown to many there is a labour office in Hua Hin where work permits can be extended. The trip to Prachuab is no longer necessary.
The office is located next to the police station on the corner of Petchksaem Road. They offer work permit information and renewals and are open from Monday to Wednesday 09.00 to 16.00. Tel: 032-513784.
The office is manned by staff from Prachuab labour department so their regulations will apply which may differ from those in Bangkok.

Looks like this place is pretty inefficient after all, work permit extension applied for this morning and was rejected for "insufficient documentation" - the same documentation that has been (and still is) required for it for the last 5 years.
Its a shame these guys don't know what they're doing, oh well a trip to Bangkok it is then where they have a professional labour department that actually knows what is required for each different visa and work permit category.

For a feel good factor, once successful in BKK with the same documentation, maybe go back to the HH office and have your wife ask them in Thai when they'll reimburse you your travel costs? May burn a bridge but their whole staff will rotate by the time you need to do it next. IT WOULD FEEL SOOOO GOOD...LOL. Pete

The annoying thing is that they have renewed an identical work permit for the same company two weeks before, the goal posts have moved in two weeks!
Bangkok have been doing it for years without a problem because they know the difference between a 'B' visa and an 'M' visa category. Hua Hin doesn't.

This WP allows me to work in any province by its nature (note the 'M' and not 'B'), it can also be renewed anywhere but I've always done it previously in Bangkok with no problems, the One Stop Shop have always been friendly and professional. Just thought I'd try HH since there is an office here now - bad decision I guess and more proof that each office does what it wants regardless of the official requirements.

Ahhh the pleasures of dealing with competent professionals.
Bangkok One Stop Shop Labour Dept, 20 minutes later, stamp stamp, no 'extra documents', no walls, no blocks, all smiles, see you next year.
When asked why it couldn't be done in Hua Hin the response was "they don't understand".

And of course, asking of questions and requesting explanations would be a serious loss of face so it's better to just carry on being a dumb arse.buksida wrote:
