A Socttish bloke who used to have the old 'Scotties' bar in Bintabaht.
As Randy says, the old site is now a complex of about 6-7 bars, Road Hole is at the front, but totally different to as it was before.

I don't know the financial set up, but Barry is involved with the John(nie) Walker Pub and Restaurant (to give it it's full name :D )

Mrs S tells me her beer supplier hasn't put their prices up, so her prices stay the same....they put prices up when the supplier does. Geronimo Mike says the same....no plans to increase either.

A bottle of Hieny should come in at about 80bht, Leo, Signha and Tiger 70bht and Chang 60bht (plus another 60 for a bottle of asprin ;-) )....any more is taking the p**s.

I heard that some on the Bintabaht row of bars had, but I put that down to rents and key money probably going up....

As an aside I read this week the funeral of the princess is slated for Nov 14th to 16th, so expect the bars to be closed then in respect for HH.

A chang in my local bar is 22bt a heineken 35bt per can or small bottle and I can fish in the lake for free and they cook it for free .That said SM prices are spot on for town considering the rents etc the bar owners have to pay .I often have a few beers in town early evening but cannot abide people pestering me to buy crap wooden frogs, silly hats etc. day after day .If I am having a few beers the last thing I want is to be pestered constantly .If there are any bars in town that do not allow customers to be harrassed I might pop out in the evenings more often .If you can promise me no frogs I won,t tell anyone I work for the CIA or that I am a retired bare knuckle boxing champion that used to be the Kray twins bodyguard .

Crazy

This is not a business plug...just an answer to your question about bars stopping street traders coming in to hassle you

Geronimo Bar on Poolsuk opposite the Temple Shop, next door to Sara Jane restaurant.

Mike, the owner, has a sign outside his bar in Thai and a strict "No Hawkers" policy - they all know and stay well away. He got a lot of crap and hassle off the traders for that but stuck to his guns and they stay away.

He does that as the regulars are all like you (and me) .... we dont want to be sold stuff whilst enjoying a beer and some footy.

the music is good as well as you choose your own....apart from when a match is on
