Does anyone know about an orphanage situated about 1 h from HH? (could be a lady of Mercy' one but am unsure)
I have read somewhere that you can visit them, but can't find the info any more...
Thx!

This is what we have discovered about Mercy house (by visiting)
Address:
Mercy House
18/15 Tesaban St 1
Tambon Kao Noi,
Amphur Pranburi,
Province Prachaubkirikan 77120
Phone 032-621905, 01-9411770
E-mail mercyhouse3@yahoo.com
Contacts Rev Wichai and Mrs Wanpen Rongkhangaew
Cash donations can be made to:
Mercy House
Bangkok Bank Pranburi branch
Account No 419-0-28591-8
At present they have 25 children at the house and are always grateful for donations of money or equiptment or to pay for special celebrations.
With the current high prices they would be particularly happy to receive donations of rice (not cooked)
They also like people to visit the children at the home especially during the school holidays

By the way, elem (and robbyhh), thanks for the reminder, I've been meaning to go down there. What with all the recent doom and gloom postings about the economic crisis, the end of the world being nigh, how awful life is for farang in Thailand, etc. etc. it would be nice to put things in perspective and perhaps do just a teency bit of something good for someone else for a change, rather than reading all the whingeing about UK house prices on HHAD.

I feel slightly guilty inside cos we only manage to do this once a year, but at Xmas-time all the regulars at Romantic Bar visit Mercy House bearing gifts and set aside most of that day to be with the kids and try give them a day different from most others.
I think a donation is made also on the day also to help the running of the orphanage etc.
What amazed me was some of the kidz there speak really good English and attend classes almost daily to gain a command of our language.
We will be doing the same again this year so if anyone fancies wearing the Santa-outfit for a few hours pop by and ask us for more info.
That one day down at Pranburi, the smiling faces brimming with gratitude kinda warms you throughout Xmas.
(not that ya gonna catch a chill around here mind)
