I think by end of 2022 will be a safer bet?

At this rate, Thailand needs to administer an average of 474,920 doses per day to reach the herd immunity target by year end.
If you use Thai maths and logic you will come up with quite a different answer!!

The key is obviously vaccine availability. I still believe if sufficient vaccine becomes available soon enough, the numbers are achievable.

Well I’m sure you’re right BB, but the big if is, will they get sufficient vaccines?

Of course, and they seem to have a lot on order. However, I don't think anything will be achieved if the AZ supply doesn't start arriving in the promised numbers within the next month. Personally, I can forgive teething problems, but I just wish they would tell us what is actually happening, to give us realistic expectations.

If February 28th is the new December 31st, no problem for me, but stop feeding us crap.

Most of us have been here long enough to know that a) they probably don’t know themselves what’s going on and b) the last thing they’re going to do is give out bad news - it will either be nothing, or what they think you want to hear.

My needs (probably like most) are simple. Don't give me bullshit, just give me a realistic, achievable timescale. The bullshit only serves to wind people up. If it's June 2022, so be it. I won't be delighted, but at least I'll have some idea of the long road ahead. Links to the unachievable and a multitude of new apps (I see they launched another new app today  ), not to mention wallpapering the streets with QR Codes are as useful as a chocolate fireguard.

Its not AZ's doing, its the cockwombles at Siam Bioscience who promised the earth and delivered a steamy turd :naughty:

This is day 8 of this app - I guess it's long overdue to be replaced anyway. Well past it's use by date.
As this seems to be your 2020/21 favourite tag why not just use NFP. I think we will all understand

Agree 100%. Siam Bioscience should never have got the job but we all know why! As someone said: "Why has AZ Thailand not commented?" Embarrassment? I wonder what AZ UK are thinking. We'll probably never know.

Comments from James Teague, Country President, AstraZeneca (Thailand) Ltd have been part of many of the reports I've seen regarding the production of AZ vaccines in Thailand.

Here's just one example:

That was more than a month ago commenting on the first batches having passed scrutiny. Since then SB have fallen a long way short of production leading them to delay and reduce commitments to other ASEAN countries.
I haven't seen any reports from AZ regarding the current situation. There have been reports on Bloomberg pointing out that Siam Bioscience is not up to the job.

My daughter speaks with AZ in the UK quite often and privately they're appalled.

The Thai company and AstraZeneca have not revealed total production goals nor commented on whether the plant has missed its targets.

Malaysia had been due to receive 610,000 doses from Thailand in June and 1.6 million later this year, but its Science Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said on Wednesday "we are expecting some delay."

The first delivery to the Philippines, which was promised 17 million doses, was reduced and postponed by several weeks, a Philippine presidential adviser said last week.

Thailand, which expects to receive six million doses for June, last week received 1.8 million locally-produced doses and 200,000 imported from South Korea.
That from the Bangkok Post just a few days ago.
