Re: Coronavirus Precautions/News/Updates for Hua Hin/Prachuap

I'm afraid that we're going to see increasing numbers everywhere going forward because of this India variant. :(

It's not just here in Thailand, but every country far and wide.

I'm hoping for some news on a new additive, so to speak, to existing vaccines that can handle these new variants. I'm thinking now that everyone may have to get vaccinated for a third time, not just a booster to what they already had. Time will tell.

Last I heard, all the main vaccine manufacturers are working on updated vaccines for the new variants.

Although actually, the latest data from Public Health England seems to show that the existing vaccines (at least Pfizer & AstraZeneca) are still highly protective against the Delta variant.

As stated in the article linked to below:
The new data, published as a pre-print, demonstrated that two doses of AZ’s COVID-19 vaccine are 92% effective against hospitalisation caused by the Delta variant, with no deaths observed among vaccinated individuals.
[...]
Meanwhile, the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was found to be 96% effective against the Delta variant after two doses.

^^ My wife too. The whole province only got 3000 doses. I had read that 1.6 million were to be delivered, Bangkok getting 600,000, so out of the remaining million PKK gets 3000. Hua Hin got 770! Mass vaccination continues.

Hua Hin Recharge? Not this year!

Open to correction on the numbers.

Time between AZ jabs shortened
The government has abandoned a plan for a 16-week gap between doses of AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine and will opt for a shorter interval of 10 to 12 weeks instead, a senior health official said on Friday.

Authorities had sought to vaccinate more people faster by stretching the gap between shots to 16 weeks, beyond the 12-week maximum approved by the European Medicines Agency.

A 16-week interval has not been tested in human trials.

But Sophon Mekthon, assistant to the public health minister, told Reuters that the communicable disease committee wanted to revert to the previous interval, adding that it could still be extended in future if necessary.

The country started its mass Covid immunisation campaign last week and has administered 7.2 million doses since February.

The campaign has got off to a bumpy start with vaccine quantities falling short of projections, and disputes over allocation.

AstraZeneca has contracted with Siam Bioscience to manufacture the jabs locally, but it has taken the company some time to get up to speed. This is also calling delays delays in shipments to Taiwan, Malaysia and the Philippines.

Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said on Friday that the government would receive 10 million AstraZeneca doses monthly from July until its quota of 61 million doses is met.

I hope those projections are accurate but bear in mind it comes from Anutin so I'm not holding my breath!

Thanks for that - I hadn't seen it previously. Very helpful. I was wondering whether to go early or late with Mrs BB. That makes it easy - we need to be there between 10 and 12.

Do you know if we have to take anything outside of ID Card please?

Mor Prom App Madness

Post by Ratsima »

The iPhone Mor Prom app was recently upgraded to version 0.3.3. I installed the new version today. (Thanks to Apple or whoever is responsible for making it possible to upgrade apps without having to switch stores.)

Now when I open the new version it's a crapshoot as to whether I'll see my own record or someone else's. For example:

And, no, I am not a young woman with a vaccination appointment in Pattaya.

Doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the security of you personal data, does it?

Don't think so.

Also saw this:

The important part here says to register on the 9th floor of the orange building (car park building) to get a queue card.

The above is taken from here.

There are also suggestions to prepare for vaccination, especially to take drink for the wait before and after getting the shot.

1. On the day before get sufficient rest and drink sufficient water/fluids.
2. No need to desist from drinks, food and regular medicine before going for the shot.
3. Wear appropriate clothing to facilitate the shot in the upper arm.
4. Bring something to drink for the observation period after the shot (30 minutes).
5. Don't forget your id card.
6. If you take warfarin please show the treatment booklet to the official.

All vaccine in this round is AZ.

To avoid crowding register in car park building (orange building) 9th floor, then receive vaccine on 10th floor.

The version on Android is 0.3.4. It seems OK.
