Oh of course they would Dannie :agree: BUT and its a big BUT it would at least be honest not the despicable underhand way they have been doing it since G Brown and provided the rules and tax was equal to ALL that PAID IN it would be FAIR which it patently IS NOT :cuss: :cuss:

Richard and i (116.15 quid a week in my case ) will still keep getting only that so hang in there Lomu :thumb: your pension is still going up ours is NOT and will NOT even though I am still paying Tax
What am I missing? I've used the calculator in the link above, and it says:

You already have enough qualifying years for the full basic State Pension of £110.15 a week.

Your State Pension age is 66 years

You’ll reach State Pension age on 30 April 2022
What have you done to be entitled to an extra £6? :?

I only started receiving my state pension on dec 30th 2012 5 months 14 days ago at age 65

I will dig it out but i have been granted a full pension at 111.? quid a week plus 5.? quid a week for SERPS payments although i did opt out of SERPS and put that in my BA pension

I receive 116.15 quid a week paid every 4 weeks and have done every 4 weeks since the 1st jan 2013

As it is paid into my Nationwide account i can assure you that is accurate

I think if it is YOUR age you put in and wont reach 65/66 until 2022 you should get the flat 144 quid at least

I understand why people get a bit upset about having to pay tax on pensions when not living in the UK,

I am NOT upset about paying tax I am F*****G FURIOUS that i am NOT getting out what i paid in for and am not being treated equally its wrong wrong wrong

Quote:
but you need to remember that your pension contributions attracted tax relief, with your contributions taken from your gross pay before tax was applied,

Yes agreed BUT and it is a BIG BUT that was because we would pay tax on it when it was paid out

NOT our contributions investment proceeds TAXED and then TAXED again when its paid out thats double taxation and is theft
Just to tidy that up a bit
I paid into my pension fund ie. BA not just the payments but AVCs as DB points out those payments were tax free. so far no problem

My pension fund invests them and makes a profit which they would then pay to their pensioners who would pay tax on their payments. So far still no problem.

My pension fund invests them and makes a profit NOW the govt taxes those profits and what little is left AFTER they have had their take is payed out to the pensioners who pay tax on their payments DOUBLE TAXATION

Where does this tax stolen by Brown and the govt go it goes to pay pension INCREASES which i do not receive
It goes to pay widows benefit now and in the future for some but NOT to my wife

In other words i was duped into saving my money in pension and AVCs to pay for people who did not save anything and that is wrong full stop

Daft as it sounds, I have my wife to thank for my state pension, as I had completely forgotten I was entitled to one.
I started to pay enhanced rate NI contributions so many years ago, then lost track of it over the years.
I know, I know but the morph has had me the last couple of years. :rasta:

It was when going through some files in a drawer last year, that she came across the paperwork, (a state pension forecast) if she had not, I would never have claimed when the time came.

I suppose now I will have to give her half. :(
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

It would appear that maybe we only have ourselves to blame

I believe that this is a misleading headline.....

There must be 100's of 1000's of UK based spouses that have not paid any or anywhere near enough contributions.... For various reasons..... To receive a pension in their own right..... and will be relying on their other half's contributions to make up the shortfall....

To exclude spouses of men who have retired in Thailand..... Or anywhere else for that matter..... Would surely fall under discrimination laws somewhere along the line.....

As I said in an earlier post..... I believe the ultimate goal of the Government..... Will be to refrain from paying a pension to anyone.... Who decides to retire outwith the UK....

Wonder what % of the whole are 'Thai brides' drawing pensions? I suspect it is fairly small.

Yes I suspect that until this was recently highlighted, a lot of people may not have even realised they were eligible - seems like a lame excuse to screw us on something else!!

I am NOT sure but i think i read there were 45,000 Brit expats in Thailand
if anyone can correct that i would be grateful

The figures quoted is 220,000 spouses claiming outside of the UK

as the 45,000? are still alive they WILL NOT be claiming YET

I suggest the number of spouses in Thailand (and Thailand was named ) is minuscule

looking for a bit of information for a friend he as been living here for eight years and as been receiving pension credits they have now been stopped he went back to the uk to try and sort out the problem and was told that because he doesn't live there any more that he is not intietal to them and no money, is this correct can they just stop paying him and give him nothing.
He was told that if he moved back there they would put him in a old peoples home and reinstate his pension. He didn't want that and I don't blame him for that he has a house here and he is still independent why would he want to be put in a home and left there to DIE.

The problem is that through his working life he didn't pay enough NI only about ten years worth so does anyone know if he is intietaled to any thing, he as sent letters to the DWP and emailed them but they don't reply back I have been told he is intietaled to a minimum of £64 a week? is this true and if so how can he start the ball rolling.

many thanks and much appreciated to some information
