During my first relationship here, I started it all wrong from the get go (I was young, naive and stupidly smitten). I was completely under the thumb and she called the shots. A very jealous, violent and insecure young lady was she. I couldn't go out with the lads without an argument upon return. Any phone call made would be scrutinized by an ever listening ear. Messages would be checked and schedules would be made as to when I could go out and with whom I could go outside with.

Neeless to say, the relationship was ended (nasty, nasty break up) after four years (!?). The huge mistake I made was moving in with her far too soon (after 3 months). All was well until we lived together. Fortunately, I had nothing invested in her apart from my time so, financially, I came out of it pretty much as I had started it.

So, if and when, I find myself in another relationship, I will certainly be callling the shots from the get go on any important matters. My freedom will continue to be my freedom whether the other half likes it or not.

You live and learn. I learnt a lot from my mistakes during that period. I must say that I would prefer the more 'traditional' relationship between husband and wife.

^^^ Good post Takiap and I agree with it, especially the part about Thai men. Like any other men they come in all sorts. My FIL did nearly all the family cooking and a lot of the so-called womanly chores around the house before he passed. He took the main roll in raising my daughter while my wife was in college in Bangkok and took great care of her, however one of his daughters (before any of you jump on it, not my wife) married a layabout that drank and smoked with his buddies all day and night while she supported him by working her axx off.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Since this thread has delved into the realms of household chores....

My G/F works 10 hours a day 6 days a week.....

So 6 days a week I undertake all the household chores.... Cleaning... Cooking.... Washing etc....

On her day off.... I cannot lift a finger.... She does everything.....

This suits me fine as it gives me something to do when she is at work......

Having done what needed to be done this morning.... i popped out for a bit.....

Came back home..... To be greeted yet again..... With a big steaming dog turd....

I know which dog..... I know the owner...... Who will do nothing about it other than shrug his shoulders....

So before I go to MV and buy a gas powered pistol and put a blast of BB's up its *ss ..... does anyone have a more humane way of putting a stop to this.....?

Or is it MV for me this afternoon.....?

Edit..... It craps right at my gate....

Whatever you do, do NOT throw the dog turd over into said owners house (even though it's kind of called for). Tried that once about 10 years ago (dog was getting through my gate and crapping on my drive), and was surrounded by a pack of angry Thai's. Apparantly, it's like posting a couple of bullets through their letterbox (possible BS... a Thai told me this) :D .

I wonder what a female child is learning

In Takiaps case i would suggest she is learning equal partnership and mutual respect

But what does any child in a male or female dominated relationship learn could it be fear and loathing and total disregard for others by observing her parents behaviour.

I would not want my daughter to be in a male dominated relationship (equal/mutual is Fine) and i therefore would teach her NOT to be a doormat mouse or underling but by actions teach her what Takiap and his good lady are teaching their daughter.
