This was claimed quite early in the 'investigation'DNA testing on a cigarette butt had earlier been matched to semen found on Ms Witheridge's body, and officers say they have established that more than one person had smoked the cigarette.

Although I cannot prove this, knowing Thai attitudes, I believe that if the Burmese are convicted there will be a feeling that as migrants did it then that exonerates thailand and that foreigners have nothing to complain about because foreigners are killing foreigners.

This morning I spent some time to read comments on Facebook and noticed that Thais as well farangs unanimously don't believe Thai police. They got 3 scapegoats thanks to their unethical interrogations.

Check out the latest report from AD
http://www.andrew-drummond.com/2014/10/ ... claim.html
It also raises some serious questions. Two of the accused are also reported to work in the AC bar which is owned by the same local politician who's brother and son (who has proven beyond the reasonable doubt, of the BBB, that he was in Bangkok at the time) were questioned and then released.
If ever there was a case where the evidence needs to be independently checked and results of DNA tests verified.....this is it!
Will it happen....I doubt it. Will the world believe any conviction without verification.....I hope not.
Let's again wait and see but not hold our breath as the suicide rate for farangs in Thailand is already too high

NGO questions if the two Myanmar suspects are scapegoats
The Cross Cultural Foundation, a non-governmental organization, has voiced concern over the arrest of two Myanmar workers in Koh Tao on alleged rape-murder charge of two British tourists, reasoning there was no transparent justice procedure in making arrest and feared the duo might be scapegoats.
Director of the CCF Ms Pornpen Kongkachornkiat said she received complaint about the mass arrest of migrant workers in Koh Tao by the police after the murder of the two tourists, particularly information related to the three Myanmar suspects in the murder.
She revealed that she received complaint saying that on September 27, nine migrant workers were playing “Takraw” when the police came and rounded up all the migrant workers.

Thoughts: Disbelief of the suspect's guilt seems to be growing both inside and outside of Thailand. Portraying a 'potentially' corrupt police force will do even more harm to Thailand's already tarnished reputation. However, to give in to pressures now will mean a HUGE loss of face for many influential parties. It will be interesting to see how it pans out.

Re: Hua Hin hit by mass of sea nettles
Why do they stage these reenactments here. I've never heard of that anywhere else. Is it just a police PR scheme?

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

The UK police do public reenactments from time to time, but the aim is to jog the memory of potential witnesses in unsolved cases, not pat themselves on the back in front of the cameras.
This is the way

As my old grandma would have said, it's turning into a right beggars muddle, you can't see any happy ending here unless (by some remote stroke of luck) they actually do find the perpetrators.
Re: Tourists murdered on Koh Tao
I'm starting to think it may be the real deal. The L&M cigarettes are doing it for me. These guys admitted that's what they smoke, the sitting log/area where the butts were found is where they said they smoked, and the DNA on the butts matched was on the girl long before they found these two men. There's CCTV footage of them in a convenience store buying the L&M cigarettes on the night.prcscct wrote:I'm starting to think it may be the real deal. The L&M cigarettes are doing it for me. Also, a blonde hair was found in the female victim's hand.
Apparently, one of the accused had dyed his hair blonde and then dyed it black again after the crime.

Maybe it's a case of 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf' then. When it's real, nobody believes them.

The reconstruction has been on all the news channels here and the media was even reporting their doubts in my eyes it looked like a compleate circus.

Personally, I don't believe a word of this 'confession story'But with hundreds of onlookers the scene did little to shore up confidence in Thai police methods. Indeed the suspects appeared to be taking stage directions from the police on how to carry out the re-enactment.
