^^ Agreed, but I think Kane should start!

Incidentally, after the first round of Premiership games, does anyone else want to amend their final standing picks...?

As far as opening weekends go, I thought this year was a good one - lots of goals, lots of individual good performances and some pretty good team performances. If the rest of the season stays the same, we’re in for a treat and there could be a few surprises along the way!!

Great display from Paul Pogba. 4 assists which had the pundits creaming themselves.

What about the 4 or 5 seasons that he's been a obscenely paid passenger? Putting yourself in shop window this season so you can leave on a very lucrative free next summer if you perform well. I guess that may benefit the team in the short term but as far as I'm concerned he can feck right off the sooner the better.

On this day

"1989 Manchester United is sold for £20m in the biggest takeover deal in the history of British football."

Makes you chuckle, doesn't it. That amount these days wouldn't even buy you one mediocre player.

Yes, read the same/similar - surely it is criminal to allow a business (which Barcelona FC is) to be run/operated in this manner. Any other business (outside Football/sport(?)) would be wound up. It just compounds the ridiculousness of the salaries and transfer fees involved in the sport.

There was BIG news over a European Rugby Union player moving to a Japanese club on a contract reportedly worth +/- £1 million per year......... Some TWO WEEKS of Messi's salary!! Something really has to be done - absolutely ludicrous!

Well, we're talking Wendyball salary - so still on subject (ish).....

Sounds like Man City will walk away from the Kane deal as £150 million is a tad too high...... Really!!

Ronaldo to join them for far less..... ?

And yet the Barcelona club members ownership is often cited a role model for other clubs.

Funny old football World.

Should be a sellout 9k crowd. Hopefully no first team players make the journey.

Fortunately, we get another go at them at home.

What a shitshow. Sure we played our B team, and players getting some game time, but even so they should have had some control over the game. Or, god forbid, a shot on goal. Worst performance I've seen from a football team in a while.

None of those players, aside from Gil maybe who showed flashes of what he can do, will be in the first 11 anytime soon. Useless.

The flop Lukaku is in the lineup, but he looks to be a leaner meaner machine this time around. Fingers crossed he still has the first touch of a trampoline.
Will it took him all of 15 minutes to make me look a little stupid.

He was up against a poor Arsenal team though, otherwise it might have taken him a little bit longer to have the same affect!!

I'm rooting for West Ham this season (didn't know you were a Hammer) as a good friend passed away a few weeks back who was the most die hard West Ham/football fan I've ever known. He'd have loved to have seen them in the top spot, albeit after only 2 games played. :D

In other news, we can put the Harry Kane transfer saga to bed for another year...

What does he mean, 'staying this summer'? Does that mean he is off in the Autumn?

Yes, that wording does suggest he'll try for a move again before the season's out. Otherwise he'd simply say 'this season' surely.

An article came out today, from the ever reliable Daily Mail, that said he wants his wage upping to £400k. If true, I can understand poor Harry. His boss wouldn't even begin talks with teams unless a £150 mil offer was on the table. So Levy is valuing him at that while paying him the meagre salary of a £50-100 million player.

Come on, Levy. Stop being a tight-arse.
