Perfect weather right now if only it didn't get quite so hot in the afternoons... If this is global warming, bring it on! :D :duck: :duck:
Normal winter week I think. Make the most of it. The only way is up now

Only about the third time in 13 years in Thailand I've got socks on. Bloody cold here in Hua Hin but not as cold as up north.............http://www.nationmultimedia.com/nationa ... 22360.html

I was in Prachuab last night. Really cold sat outside at the restaurant. Absolutely no need for aircon in the hotel.

We normally have the windows open (with mesh nets) and ceiling fans on, but last night the windows were closed and the fan was off - whilst nothing like UK temps, it feels colder than I can remember in previous years.

I can remember sitting outside the Hilton, many years ago, when it was windy and 10 C. I recently noticed that the record low for Hua Hin is 10 C, so it must have been that night. Enjoy this cool weather because it wont last for long.

I'm still sleeping with the A/C and a floor fan on, for noise suppression if no other reason. I haven't seen anywhere in Thailand that I could sleep with the bedroom windows open... too many dogs, chickens, motorbikes, loud speakers, frogs, birds, etc., nosiest place I've ever lived in my life.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

What do you have on the bed HHF, a thick duvet? I know from your previous posts that you suffer in the heat, but I'm surprised that in this weather you are still using A/C and a fan.

God I love this weather, I flew out of Mass on the 14th dodged a massive snow storm and a fridges weather system, they just got another 8in Tuesday into Wednesday morning... So I am living large at the moment, I just can't believe the difference from May this year to now... Golf will be lovely with these temps.... Enjoy folks, I am sure this won't last too long....

I sleep in the buff under a thin sheet only. In this weather I set the A/C on 25 so it's probably mostly fan, I doubt the compressor is coming on very often, however the floor fan is set to blow steady on high straight up my side of the bed from the foot so I have a nice breeze on me all night long. When I woke up this morning at 8 a.m. my digital thermometer next to the bed said 24. My wife sleeps in pajamas under a sheet and 4 layers of thick duvet. :D :D :D

As I said though, I would have to run these fans with windows closed no matter how cold it got (or get a white noise machine) as I am a light sleeper and went for years here in a state of the walking dead from lack of sleep due to noise pollution. I tried three types of commercial ear plugs but they were not effective. Now I have a pair of 2000 baht earplugs that were custom molded from silicone specifically to fit my ear canals but they still only block 80 to 85% of hearing so dogs close to my bedroom (like my own two!) can still wake me up barking.

So for you guys wondering about my posts on living in Thailand, combine an extreme intolerance for heat and humidity with an extreme intolerance for noise and a tired lazy grumpy old man is what you get here. :D :D :D

hhf I would be very grateful if you could let me know where you got your custom moulded earplugs made as I am currently experiencing terrible noise from a construction site opposite my bedroom window.
Many thanks

^ Any good hearing aid place can do it, but to my knowledge there is not one in Hua Hin. I got mine at the Belltone place on Sukhumvit Soi 22 in Bangkok. If you walk down Soi 22 from Sukhumvit road it is on the right side 200 or 300 meters down the road. You can walk there from the Prom Phong BTS station in less than 10 minutes. They make the mold (your ears may need cleaning first but they can do it after 5 p.m. weekdays when the doctor is there) and it takes a few days to get them made, but they will mail them to you in Hua Hin. I did it that way and received them in about 5 days.
