PRAYUT THREATENS TO BAN ALL PUBLIC TRANSPORT TO STOP PANDEMIC
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Tuesday said he may decide to shut down all public transport if the coronavirus epidemic continues to spread in the country.
Speaking in a news conference broadcast online after yesterday’s Cabinet meeting, Gen. Prayut warned that he will escalate travel restriction measures designed to contain the outbreak if the number of confirmed cases in Thailand keeps rising. The country counted at least 1,651 infections so far.
“Many people are concerned about the movement of people. There are calls to close or stop it, but we need to see the consequences that follow as well,” Prayut said. “I ordered public transport operators to see whether they need to limit their services, but if they can’t handle it properly, I may order all the services to stop.”
Although the government has yet to ban commuting between provinces, it is strongly discouraged by the authorities unless it is absolutely necessary. Many transport operators also announced further suspension of their services in wake of the enactment of emergency decree last week.
Some of the provinces such as Phuket, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat – where the virus is rapidly spreading – have closed off traffic into their provinces except emergency, government, and logistic vehicles.

And now there are cases popping up at immigration buildings. If anyone has seen the fracas at Chang Wattana, then it's no surprise!

Thailand confirms 120 new coronavirus patients, two new fatalities.
Thailand confirmed 120 new coronavirus patients on Wednesday bringing the total number of cases in the country to 1,771 confirmed.
The government said that there were two additional fatalities bringing the death toll to 12.
Of the 1771 confirmed cases of coronavirus, 342 patients have recovered and been discharged.
Bangkok and Nonthaburi still have the highest concentration of cases with 850 and 122, respectively. 43 new cases were discovered in Bangkok in the last 24 hours.
Due to the rising numbers, the governor of Nonthaburi ordered a mandatory curfew starting on Tuesday between 11 pm to 5 am. The curfew will continue until the end of April.
“While we’re seeing lower increases in Bangkok and the surrounding areas, those areas are still dangerous areas so people must practice caution and self-isolation,” said government spokesman Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin.
Prime Minister satisfied
The government said that Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha expressed his satisfaction after Tuesday’s cabinet meeting that the numbers were not increasing exponentially.

Seems that the guv of Nonthaburi has unilaterally imposed a curfew, expect more I guess.

Good info. We now know that the virus only comes out between 11pm and 5am!
Re: China Coronavirus (Covid-19)
It really will make no difference what they implement. As we know from so many years only a certain percentage of people pay attention to any laws and regulations here. I would say maybe half. Those enforcing laws many times don't. I would say maybe half. Lose before you start.

Ahem. It was a joke, Pete.
Although I do agree, that any passing of a law is meaningless.

Re: China Coronavirus (Covid-19)
It's something like this that worries me the most here. A person who didn't even know about Covid-19, or didn't care. Yes, he had a contributing condition but surely he had felt he was sick for a period of time.
Passenger with Covid-19 dies on train

PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN: The body of a 57-year-old passenger who collapsed and died on a south-bound special express train in Thap Sakae district on Monday night tested positive for Covid-19, an official said on Wednesday.
The positive test was confirmed by the Songkhla provincial public health office, State Railway of Thailand (SRT) deputy governor Voravuth Mala said on the SRT PR Facebook page.
The SRT did not name the passenger, but Thai media reported his name as Anant Sahor, 57, of Narathiwat province.
The SRT deputy governor said the passenger bought a ticket for a second-class air-conditioned carriage on the Thaksin Special Express Train No 37 operating between Bangkok and Hat Yai on March 30. He boarded the train’s car No 4 at Bang Sue railway station en route to Sungai Kolok.
The man developed a cough and vomited during the journey. His condition had apparently improved by the time the train reached Hua Hin railway station, and a team of screening officials from Hua Hin municipality checked his body temperature, which was measured at 36 degrees Celsius. Officials advised the passenger to take a rest at Hua Hin station, but he insisted on continuing his journey.
At about 10.15pm, train staff found the passenger collapsed in front of a toilet. When the train reached Thap Sakae railway station, a local rescue team boarded the train and took the man to Thap Sakae Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight. He suffered from diabetes, but his fluid was sent for Covid-19 tests, which came back positive on Wednesday.
SRT has sent a list of 15 pasengers who were on board the same carriage as the dead passenger to Songkhla public health office and quarantined 11 people, including 2 train staffers at Bang Sue railway station, a security guard, 7 railway staffers working on the special expressway train, and a railway police officer, Mr Voravuth said.
Dr Suriya Khuharat, chief of Prachuap Khiri Khan public health office, said on Wednesday that the passenger had just returned from Pakistan to Suvarnabhumi airport. He underwent screening at the airport, but was not found to have any fever.
Prachuap Khiri Khan governor Pallop Singhasenee said Anant was the 13th Covid-19 infection case in the province, but was the first to die.

I would hazard a guess that that wasn't his body temperature but his skin temperature. After all he was in an aircon carriage. The use of these cheap guns is quite pointless. If they were any good then doctors would be using them.and a team of screening officials from Hua Hin municipality checked his body temperature, which was measured at 36 degrees Celsius.

GOV’T TO SANITIZE COINS AND BANKNOTES TO PREVENT CORONAVIRUS
Thailand’s Ministry of Finance on Wednesday said the Treasury Department will release new coins and collect old ones for a thorough cleanup to help stem the spread of COVID-19.
“In Thailand, cash is the main source of transactions. People still carry cash with them to buy food and items,” said Yuttana Yimgarund, director-general of the department.
“The virus can stick onto old coins for 5-7 days and with banknotes for 9 days,” said Yuttana, adding that they will use ultraviolet light at 200 degrees Celsius to sanitize the old coins and banknotes.
Yuttana said people can still use detergent to wash and dry coins under the sunlight or use alcohol to clean them.
“The government would like to encourage all Thais to make payments through online channels and money transfers,” he said, noting that the Treasury Department will be releasing 31 billion coins in the meantime.
Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health on Wednesday reported 120 new COVID-19 cases and two deaths, sending the total number of confirmed cases to 1,771 and death toll at 12.

Very good explanation by Dr.HHTel, those guns are also used in hospitals and by doctors, but I admit there must be some differences in quality.HHTel wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2020 6:11 amI would hazard a guess that that wasn't his body temperature but his skin temperature. You don't have to be a doctor to have eyes and ears which allows you to listen/read what is said by the experts. You should try it sometime.
The thermometers determine temperature by measuring the heat emanating from the surface of a person’s body. Often, however, those wielding the tools don’t hold them close enough to the subject’s forehead, generating unusually low temperature readings, or hold them too close and get a high reading. The measurements can be imprecise in certain environments, like a dusty roadside, or when someone has taken medication to suppress a fever.
“These devices are notoriously not accurate and reliable,” said Dr. James Lawler, a medical expert at the University of Nebraska’s Global Center for Health Security. “Some of it is quite frankly for show.”
When he traveled in West Africa during the Ebola outbreak, Dr. Lawler was frequently tested with infrared thermometers outside hospitals or at roadside checkpoints. The results suggested he was dying of hypothermia.
“My temperature was often 35 degrees Celsius or lower, which starts to become incompatible with life,” Dr. Lawler said. “So I’m not sure those were accurate.”
