Just a thought. If there would be a total curfew, what would happen to the monks? Where would they get their food and daily necessities, soap for example?

Be careful what you think about ... monks would be my last concern. A massive spike in crime, robberies and general xenophobia driven anarchy my first.

PRAYUT SAYS 24-HOUR CURFEW MAY FOLLOW AS 4 NEW VIRUS DEATHS REPORTED
The Prime Minister may impose a total lockdown order if the number of those infected and killed by the coronavirus do not drop within a week, a government spokeswoman said, even as four more people died of the virus.

Spokedwoman Naruemon Pinyosinwat said PM Prayut Chan-o-cha is “seriously considering” the drastic measure, which would bar anyone from leaving their home at all time, and his decision will be based on the pandemic numbers in the next seven days.

The news came as the figure of those infected increased by 103 to 1,978 and the number of those killed by the coronavirus and related health complications rose by four to 19 on Friday.

PM Prayut already called for a curfew to be imposed over the entire country starting tonight, from 10pm to 4am. Those who violate the curfew face an imprisonment of up to two years.

People in many places simply couldn't adhere to such a curfew, they would starve. Expect panic buying everywhere now.

In China (Wuhan) the population got free food, in Thailand only monks will get free food from government. I don't worry for them...555

Just to be clear, I have no problem with a Spanish style lockdown, where you can venture out for shopping, but as for a total 24hr curfew, unworkable and liable to push the country to the brink of anarchy.

For a country of 65 million they're not doing badly here in comparison. However, it seems the military mentality and approach "demands" results which my be unachievable in the short term. I'm sure there will be more loose cannon comments and foot stomping the media will report on, but at the end of the day I doubt they'll do something stupid that would result in more trouble than they have now.

Agreed, and in the cold light of day old Cha Cha Cha (kudos HHTel) may well be using the carrot and stick approach.

Here is a documentary from a day ago. It's a Sky News report 'Coronavirus: Into the Red Zone'.

It's taken in Italy in Milan. It takes you inside the hospitals.
It's around 45 mins long and I'll warn you now. It's very harrowing.
