caller wrote:Cannot agree with you Zidane re: the Torres sending off, it was a foul, he fell over as a result of the foul. The referee was at fault, as was Evans.

On saying that, I am now looking forward to Sturridge playing in the Torres role, it could be the making of him.
yes, but why was he clutching his knee when nothing was near his knee? I think that is why he got sent off

As too some of the biased comments earlier, the Liverpool "goal" I believe was scratched off for a foul on Jags, clearly the lad is all over him. Nothing to do with offside as clearly he was not. Now should he have been on the pitch after his assault on Distan, probably not. We were crap yet again in a derby but managed to score twice, did nothing second half so got what we deserved. At 2.0 down any other season we would have crumbled and lost 3 or 4. glad to see a little bit of spirit

As to lost points , we were denied 2 versus Newcastle , a clear offside goal by Wigan could have gained us more points had the linesman seen the obvious, however it happens to all teams , we only see it more clearly when it happens to our own team. So accept that officials are human and errors will be made, whatever anyone says they even out

Watching the Liverpool goal again I agree to an extent. Yes the guy was over the top of him but... look at that Everton defender's reaction when the ball goes in. Sheer disappointment on his face thinking they've just lost it. He had no complaints about the challenge and it was on him after all. Says a lot that. He wasn't trying to jump up and getting pinned down, he's just had someone jump over him getting to the ball first.

Either way, I didn't see all the game as I had to help a friend move out (could have picked a better time! :cuss: ) but I heard you played well. Maybe even deserved a win. Nevertheless for me that last one's a goal. If the defender's just gonna stand there waiting for the ball, the other guy's gonna have to jump over him.

You were alright, you've got an alright team .

The officials may be Human but 90 percent of them are incompetent.

I wouldn't employ them.

You wouldn't employ them.

They earn ridiculous money and should be put infront of a committee and be made accountable.

At the end of the day, forget the business acumen, they are completely and utterly shit at their job .

If you're shit at your job you deserve a kick to the kerb .

The only good thing to come out of this is that Everton fans can finally say they can hold on (with dodgy decisions) against the big boys.

I mean, we thrashed you 3 times last year, this year you hung on.

Small steps and all that.

Odder and odder - Chelsea report Clattenburg for the use of 'inappropriate' comments against 2 players.

Wow. The UK media are ripping into Clattennburg, some saying the worst performance ever by a refereee in the premiership. They accuse him of everything from arrogance to incompetence. On top of which, he's facing allegations of making a racist slur against Mikel and calling Mata a Spanish Twat - under UK law, that will also come under the umbrella of racism.

The Mail had a great line about the offside goal:

"It was not a difficult offside for a linesman to spot. To be fair, Lemon Jefferson could have taken a fair swing at it. Using Ray Charles's spectacles."

And concluded:

"He should not be near a match as big as this for a very long time".

Having slept on it (all of 1 bloody hour!)... I've been thinking.

Now we all know that it was indeed a foul against Torres. He had every right to go down. If he wasn't wearing 'shinnies' it could have been quite nasty. Now...

... 'could' he have stayed on his feet? I think probably 'yes'. That being said he chose to go down as a foul had been committed in a dangerous area. Take the free kick (a little like that twat Young for me except he's not gonna get Evans sent off for it) Maybe the ref's have been pushed so far with all this 'diving' stuff making the headlines that one has simply gone 'trigger happy' about it trying to make a point but - really getting it wrong in the meantime.

Gotta be tough reffing it anyhow and I'd hate to be Clattenburg right now. He spoilt what was turning into a cracker.

All I can say is, it's about time the wheels turned on Chelsea. The luck that they had last year in the PL and winning the CL was unbelievable. But for that they would have been a mediocre side this season, finishing 6th last year they would not have got Hazard or Oscar and th PL would have been a better place. Long may it continue!

JG, you really make some strange calls. You really don't want to see the likes of Hazard and Oscar in the PL, and they would make it a better place?

Why's that then?

Sounds like the old green eyed dragon is eating you up.

Though I'd be furious if, say, The Arse picked up Messi (not gonna happen mind - the best players leave their club, not the other way around  )it would be a delight to have him in the Premier League.

Hazard especially for me has been quite a delight to watch perform. Does it suck that we don't have him? Absolutely. Players of that caliber though make the Premier League what it is.

I bet JG wasn't bleating when the Spuds signed the likes or Ardilles and Klinsmann a few years back :butt: .

Only just seen the Torres foul for his first yellow. Jesus, that was a bad challenge! Stud's up and at chest height catching Cleverly. Could have maybe got a red for that on another day. Gotta say fair play to Cleverly for not making a meal of it.

Anyhow, he didn't get a red for it and should never have gone for the second.
