Trust me, I have an extremely low pain threshold! :D

Could be that, though. Could be genetics that they're reacting to it differently. Could be something about the vaccines they're being given. Who knows, could be the weather! Just a bit curious, really.

Rest assured, we'll never know the answer.

When my wife had the AZ vaccine earlier this month she had a slightly sore arm next day and felt a bit achy and fatigued all that same day. By the end of the next day she was completely fine other than the sore arm which lasted a couple more days. So pretty mild side effects, all in all.

I notice a few people on the forum know of folk who've had quite bad side effects from the vaccines in Thailand. Curious to know if anyone outside of Thailand have come across any cases....
Personally I had both Pfizer vaccinations without any effect whatsoever but a few people I know here in Europe have had mild fever a day or two after the second jab, both Pfizer and AZ.
I've a suspicion that some of it is psychosomatic because the people who made the most fuss about being vaccinated were the ones that then claimed it made them sick.

Yep. I suspect there's an extremely high degree of hypochondria in Thailand. Problems are usually resolved by a quick visit to the local clinic and the purchase of a course of completely useless pills.

Do you have any evidence to back up that suspicion?

Looking around my Thai family, most of them buy pills for this and pills for that. Nothing wrong with any of them but they're easily influenced.
My wife's mother gets her AZ shot on Monday and she already 'knows' that she's not going to be well for a week!

You mean stats and scientific studies...? No, of course not, it was just an observation based on personal experience of a fairly decent number of Thai folk over the years. If I had any real evidence, it wouldn't be a suspicion, it would be a fact. :D

I have the same experience, sometimes it is difficult to tell if they are really ill or just needing a useless pill.

With my granddaughter, they were a bunch of student nurses, confined to quarters for several weeks, who were monitoring each other constantly out of boredom. In my granddaughter's case, she had a temperature of 38.5C for 3 days, and felt sore to the touch all over her body. The poor girl who ended up in hospital had a temperature >40C.

As with HHTel's MIL, I could easily have predicted Mrs BB's reaction. At the end of the day, it was a little soreness being used to broadcast she'd been vaccinated.

hhinner's wife with the bugs running up and down her arm however, that would have driven me bonkers (very ticklish).

^^ Fortunately the bugs didn't disturb her sleep and disappeared some time the following morning. That second day she was very sleepy, but not tired. By the morning of the third day all symptoms had gone.

Just seen on HHH FB that they've published a list of about 630 people (out of 3,534 who had appointments) who didn't turn up for their AZ vaccinations. They have until 2 July before they lose their right to the shot.

"We must get everyone vaccinated"

"People are urged to get vaccinated as soon as possible"

"Please be patient while waiting for your vaccine appointment"

"Everyone will have received a shot by year end"

And now, "If you don't turn up for whatever reason, then we will not allow you to be vaccinated!"

If it wasn't so serious, it'd be hilarious!
