Sorry. But I was more interested in the Hua Hin numbers. National figures are widely available elsewhere.

Sorry HHinner, I was just nit-picking. I'm bored so take no notice. I sat in the garden this morning watching a beetle being dissected by ants and taken off to their nest.
Beginning to empathise with cows:

1st cow: What are you doing today?
2nd cow: Just standing in a field, how about you?
1st cow: The same, standing in a field. What are you doing tomorrow?
2nd cow: Probably standing in a field. You?
1st cow: Standing in a field.

Get my drift?

Frenchman caught without mask in Phuket
A French tourist was arrested in Patong area of Kathu district on Tuesday for not wearing a face mask.

The Frenchman, Djemouai Mhedi, 27, was detained by police on Taweewong road near the Sea Pearl intersection in tambon Patong of Kathu district.

He was taken to Patong police station where he was charged with violating an order issued by the provincial communicable disease committee requiring all people to wear a face mask while outdoors - a measure against the spread of Covid-19.

The government on Wednesday reported 111 new local cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), including 42 returnees from Indonesia, raising the total to 2,369. Three more deaths, all of foreigners, took the accumulated toll to 30.

Dr Taweesin Visanuyothin, spokesman for the Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration, said the 28th death was of a Russian man, 48, who visited Phuket on March 18-21. He fell sick on March 22 and then returned to Pattaya.

After developing a fever of 38.4 degrees Celsius, a cough and a sore throat, he sought treatment at a private hospital in Chon Buri province. The man was not admitted to the hospital and conducted home isolation. He died on Sunday.

The 29th death was of an Indian businessman, 69, who also suffered from diabetes and heart disease. Dr Taweesin said the man fell sick on March 17 and sought treatment at a private hospital in Bangkok.

On March 21 his temperature rose to 39.3 degrees Celsius and he developed a runny nose, muscle pain and diarrhorea. He was admitted to a private hospital on March 29 and treated in an intensive care unit. He died on Tuesday.

The 30th death was of an American man, 69, who suffered from chronic renal disease. He fell sick on March 9 with coughing, muscle pain and breathing difficulties.

The man sought treatment at a hospital in Buri Ram province on March 21. The following day, he suffered from exhaustion and breathing difficulties. He died on Tuesday.

Wednesday's 111 confirmed new cases marked a sharp increase over the 38 recorded on Tuesday. Dr Taweesin said the new local cases included 42 Thai returnees from Indonesia and 37 people who had been in close contact with previous patients, including 18 in Bangkok, seven in Nonthaburi and six in Yala.

Trying to understand why the Thais I know are pretty casual about the virus, when the deaths are now approx 30
Thats in a country where 60-70 traffic accidents deaths every day is accepted as normal.

You've answered your own question, surely? :? If the Thai general public are not bothered about that level of road deaths daily, why would 30 virus deaths over the last couple of months be a matter of concern?

Having said that, those Thais I'm still in touch with are taking it very seriously.

The road fatalities have reduced drastically, sometimes in single figures. Ironically, this virus has indirectly saved more lives than it's taken. (Thailand only)

Shitty news tonight where news given of 2 friends passing within an hour of each other. One in his early 60's with a heart condition, but we were exchanging jokes via Email and WhatsApp this very morning.... Rushed into hospital lunchtime and died within hours.
Another in his mid 40's with no underlying symptoms - had been suffering for a few days and hospitalised, but again - very quick end which nobody was expecting - devastating news.

Brings everything very close to home.....

Take care and keep well everyone.
