In the days when I watched football, shortly after the demise of the dinosaurs, I always found college football more interesting and less predictable than pro football with its outsized egos and viciousness.

I'm not sure this is a good idea. He's tempting fate both with potential injuries, and with his legacy if he lays a big egg.

Buccaneers' Tom Brady ends brief NFL hiatus, cites 'unfinished business'

https://www.upi.com/Sports_News/NFL/202 ... 647214280/

March 13 (UPI) -- Tom Brady, who announced his retirement less than two months ago, will return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a 23rd season in 2022, he said Sunday on social media.

"These past two months I have realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands," Brady wrote on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. "That time will come. But it's not now.

"I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. Without them, none of this is possible. I'm coming back for my 23rd season in Tampa. We have unfinished business."

Brady, 44, announced Feb. 1 that he was "not going to make" the "competitive commitment" to play football anymore. The Buccaneers, the NFL and Brady's former team, the New England Patriots, issued statements to wish the future Hall of Famer well in retirement.

The Buccaneers later left the door open for Brady's return when asked about it at the NFL Scouting Combine earlier this month in Indianapolis.

"That door is never closed," coach Bruce Arians said. "Whenever Tom wants to come back, he's back. ... If Tom wants to come back, we'll have plenty of money for him."

I hope he doesn't end his career being carried off the field on a stretcher. Tampa better have a strong offensive line to protect him.

I have to think about his statement "unfinished business" . Is there still someone's record he is chasing? I thought he had broken them all concerning quarterbacks. I don't think he'll reach the oldest player record as I recall a place kicker who went until 48 or 49.

When time I'll have to do some research.

I also thought that I read Gronkowski is now a free agent and other teams are entertaining the idea of making an offer. He's coming up on 33 now with a ton of past injuries. He'll be devastated if Brady is back with the Buks and he isn't.

This link explains most of it over his career, a lot of incentive payments. The article doesn't include his recent decision to come back for the 2022 season.

Interesting to note that his wife makes much more than he does and has a much higher net worth.

So basically a family in poverty I guess - got to feel for them.

Idiotic money aside, fair play to the guy - very talented sportsman.

Yes, I constantly bitch and moan about the money involved in the Top Sports, but once again - ludicrous highs lows hit: -

"Rodgers, 38, has signed a record-breaking contract extension reportedly worth £115.17m ($150m) over the next three years.

The deal's actually freed up space under the salary cap too, for Green Bay to boost their roster."

Seriously........ :banghead:

This event rips the guts out of Aaron Rodgers contract extension as he really doesn't have another receiver even close to Adams ability. It could be a LONG year for the Packers once again if they don't buy in someone good to play catch with Rogers.

It's not just the NFL Pharvey. I think if you keep reading these articles you'll find that Premier League players are paupers compared to some of these guys.

Ex-Texans QB Deshaun Watson chooses Browns over Falcons, Saints

https://www.upi.com/Sports_News/NFL/202 ... 647643534/

....The Browns also are set to give Watson a new five-year, $230 million contract, according to ESPN and NFL Media. He would receive $184 million over the first four years of his new deal -- a $48 million raise over what he was scheduled to earn under his current contract.

Watson will receive a $45 million signing bonus as part of the deal, and the $230 million is fully guaranteed -- setting a record for the most guaranteed money given to an NFL player.....
