Cambridge Examinations has cancelled A Levels and O Levels (locally know as IB and IGCSE) exams for Thailand.

I can confirm Hua Hin International School has reverted to online learning from Monday April 19th until April 30th.

Talks on Monday could see school term postponed
The new school term, which is scheduled to begin next month, may be deferred to June due to the worsening Covid-19 situation.

Education Minister Treenuch Thienthong said she would discuss the matter on Monday with permanent-secretary for education Supat Jampathong and Office of the Basic Education Commission (Obec) secretary-general Amporn Pinasa.

The Covid-19 situation and its impact on schools and students would continue to be assessed until April 30, to see whether it is still possible to start the new school term in May as planned, said Ms Treenuch, but if it is found to be impossible the new term may be postponed to June 1.


The minister said the likely delay would only be imposed once several factors had been taken into account, including contingency plans which each educational authority has put in place to cope with difficulties in arranging in-person classes during the outbreak.

"Opinions from all sides, especially ones from educational service area offices that directly supervise schools and from provincial education committees, will be compiled," she said.

However, the minister said she did not expect every school to have to fully move classes online, following reports that many parents and students around the country are concerned about the need to do so.

The article in the Bangkok post says the schools under the authority of the BMA will be postponed. It does not say countrywide. In the last meeting on Friday it states deep red zones must not conduct classes. Red zones can do face to face if approved by the local province governor ( in Hua hin this has yet to happen, we are still waiting to hear).
If anyone has a link to the ministry of education approving this for either the BMA or the country. It would very helpful to those of us who are homeschooling at this current time.

The way I read that is Dark Red is definitely teaching online. However, there is some leeway for Red and Orange areas.

Thats what I understood too, but an article appeared at 4am saying this was now a ministry decision says 14th but continues to say if schools want to open on the 1st it must meet its guidelines, we shall just have to live in hope that the kids can get back to some face to face teaching soon.

As an update, my granddaughter who goes to Hua Hin School (not HHIS) was told yesterday that she will not be returning until the 14th.

We have had absolutely no info whatsoever from our school about online learning or the resumption of classes. I'm wondering why the hell I'm paying them so fugging much.

What's the latest from the governor regarding school opening?

After the original closure until 1st June, my grandson's school then issued a statement extending that until 14th June. Recently, we've been contacted by the school to say opening has now been pushed back until July 1st.
