Dark, shriveled lump found in Saizeriya restaurant’s takeaway confirmed to be rat’s head

A dark, suspicious-looking lump found in an unfortunate customer’s takeaway order was indeed a rat’s head, the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) says.

The department’s Pest Control Advisory Section confirmed the rodent part in an examination, HK01 reported Wednesday.

Earlier this month, a customer at the Tsing Yi branch of Japanese chain Saizeriya returned to the restaurant with his takeaway spaghetti, complaining that there was what appeared to be part of a rat in his food.

According to customers who were there at the time, the man walked around the restaurant with the food container and showed people the shriveled rat head, warning them about the outlet’s unsanitary practices. Some customers left in disgust.

Saizeriya posted a statement on Facebook two days later, writing that the restaurant is “extremely concerned” about the incident and is cooperating with the FEHD’s investigation.

It added that FEHD personnel had visited the outlet and did not find “anything unusual” about the restaurant’s hygiene standards, and did not identify any signs that it might be rat-infested.

Coconuts has reached out to Saizeriya for comment.

Saizeriya, which specializes in western food, has around 50 outlets in Hong Kong. The chain’s sit-down, family-style restaurants are known for their affordable prices.

Authorities said they will continue following up on the case and will carry out prosecutions for breach of hygiene regulations if evidence is found.

In Thailand, the restaurant owner would have sued the customer for defamation. Sorry, only if the customer were a foreigner.

EDIT - This was meant to be posted in "News of The Weird" - Mods, can you please correct?

Well, the first I'd ever heared of a "Gender Reveal Party" was when of my fellow counrtymen and rugby international was banned for... well, being a tw@t.

Whilst (some of) us "Poncey Welsh" would use "Party Poppers", it seems our American cousins take things to another level

Explosive Gender Reveal Party Shakes Houses Miles Away

"Explosives used at a gender reveal party have caused buildings to tremble across the US state of New Hampshire.

An expectant couple had gone to a quarry to let off an explosion to reveal the sex of their unborn child.

People in towns miles away felt the impact, which was said to be caused by mixing chalk with 80 pounds of Tannerite, an over-the-counter explosive.

The man who set it off has reportedly handed himself in to police.

Luckily, nobody was seriously hurt as a result of the blast.

The explosion was so big it was caught on a doorbell camera.

Local news reported people across New Hampshire saying there had been an earthquake, with some reporting cracks in the foundation of their homes."

News of the utterly ridiculous more like......

Kanye West's Yeezy Trainers Sell For Record $1.8m

"A pair of shoes designed and worn by the musician Kanye West have sold for $1.8m (£1.3m) at auction - the highest amount ever paid for trainers.

The Nike Air Yeezy 1 Prototypes beat the previous record, which was held by a pair of Nike Air Jordan 1s that sold for $615,000 last year.

"The sale also marks the first pair of sneakers to top $1m," Sotheby's auction house said on Monday.

West first wore the shoes while performing at the Grammys in 2008.

They are a US size 12, or a UK 11.

The shoes were bought by RARES, an internet platform for investing in rare footwear. Its users can buy shares in a pair in a similar way to how investors buy stocks in a company.

They were sold by the shoe collector Ryan Chang in a private sale, which means neither the buyer nor the final sale price can be publicised unless the buyer themselves comes forward.

"The sale marks the highest publicly recorded price for a sneaker sale ever," the auction house said in a statement."
