thecolonel wrote: Sat Mar 27, 2021 10:16 am Apologies, I've just dipped into this thread.

Are vaccinations mandatory for flying out of Thailand?

As I'm assuming I can't get a private jab anyway, so if they are that would suit me!

No, they're not. Vaccinations are not mandatory anywhere in the world for any purposes, as far as I'm aware.
Not yet for Covid-19. But, for example, yellow fever vaccination is required for some travel.
Yeah, I meant specifically for CoViD-19 - as stated in the thread title.

I see that Hua Hin has started (yesterday, 29th) registration for those citizens wishing to receive Covid-19 vaccine.

In Thai.

Registration is at the community level on specific dates, starting with Khao Noi yesterday. So far I only see communities on the north side of Hua Hin from Bo Fai (today) to Taan Diao.

Citizens only.

Every Thai I've spoken to doesn't want the vaccine!

Thanks hhinner, please keep us updated. I accept it won't be available to me for some time, but my Thai family can't wait to get vaccinated.

Unlike thecolonel I'm not aware of any Thais who will refuse to be vaccinated.

Nor me. Everyone I know, especially my Thai family, can't wait to be vaccinated.

Interesting

Fyi.....

-I'm talking at least 10 people maybe 15
-almost all women thinking about it
-all live in Hua Hin area
- they all seemed fairly emphatic
-none were 50 50

They were all genuinely scared that the vaccine would make them sick and that they could continue to protect themselves with masks and good hygiene.

My 'unofficial survey' was done about a month ago

Interesting that you guys have seen the opposite.

Maybe the Thais who are scared of the vaccine will have it once they see others have it first without side effects.....

Are they differentiating between Sinopharm/Sinovac and vaccines from other sources? FWIW, I am.

If you're meaning the ones I spoke to then i doubt it(maybe a little scare stories on FB etc)

More of a general fear of the unknown

Plus maybe a bit of Thai culture that good eating, good living, good faith etc will protect them

There may be an age component to wanting the vaccine or not. Anyway, the registration mentioned earlier is only for those aged 60 and over. Also for people with chronic conditions that put them at risk with Covid-19, such as heart / circulation problems, respiratory disease, diabetes, obesity, cancer.

Farcebook has an overwhelming influence on what the average Thai believes - truth or fake, it doesn't matter.

The people I know personally welcome the vaccine rollout so they can get on with their lives again. They're just a little irked that their country is so far behind its neighbours with the program.

And all these women are from one particular sector??

My Thai family is 9 (6 females and 3 males) of which 2 live in Bangkok.
I've just spent the last hour speaking to Thais I know (4 males and 2 women)
My wife and Thai daughter has done the same (more than a dozen)

So far, we haven't found anyone that says they do not want a vaccination. Quite the opposite. A lot of criticism about the availability in Thailand compared with their friends abroad. (UK, US, Laos)

Edit: Plus my neighbors on both sides. (I'd forgotten about them!)

I asked my wife would she have the vaccine tomorrow if it was available and she said yes - I asked what about others and she thought there were some who were frightened (maybe those who spend too much time on Facebook) that would not, but the majority would.

I see that the same announcement is on the Hua Hin Hospital facebook page. As you and your wife seem to be regular visitors to the hospital it may be possible to register directly at the hospital. Worth enquiring?
