All I want to add is…EVs are garbage. Witness hundreds of acres of abandoned EVs all over China. Witness ship fires caused by faulty EV batteries. No one wants them. Don’t be a fool; avoid them like the plague.
That has been defuncts, as the not the fault of the cars, just poor business sense of 'rideshare' companies in CH.
And of the 2 news-blips of ship fires I've seen of late, 1 unknown cause, and the other, suspected cause, nothing proven in either.
When news of EVs, especially MG ZS w/LFP battery catches fire here, or anywhere in the world, I might show some concern .... or not.
"Earlier this month, Chinese oil giant Sinopec made a surprise announcement that mostly flew under the radar. It’s now expecting gasoline demand in China to peak this year, two years earlier than its previous outlooks.
The main culprit? The surging number of electric vehicles on the road."
"China has been the largest driver of global growth for refined oil products like gasoline and diesel over the last two decades. But EV adoption rates in China are now soaring, with August figures likely to show plug-in vehicles hitting 38% of new passenger-vehicle sales. That’s up from just 6% in 2020 and is starting to materially dent fuel demand."

Why would anyone want to buy a Chinese-made (slave-labour made) poor quality, fire prone, EV that will be worthless on the used car market?
I remember my father rubbishing Japanese cars in the 1970s and now I've got a Toyota, a Honda and an Isuzu!

Poor quality, fire prone, made with slave labour by lying dictators.
Something the Japanese are not.

Please name a country that doesn't have a horrible human rights history, past or present. Past couple decades, NATO countries have nothing to be proud of.
Almost all cars have Chinese products in them. The big 6 CH automakers produce in part or whole, models of these badged automakers straight out of their CH plants:
MG
Vovo
Honda
Benz
BMW
VW
Nissan
Peugeot-Citroën
Toyota
GM
Ford
Mazda
Polestar
Lotus
Hyundai
Mitsubishi
Isuzu
Peugeot
Stellantis/Fiat Chrysler
It’s easy to tar China with one brush, however as in most things in life, some of what they do is good. The biggest benefit with EV cars is that China’s lead in EV production will hopefully make western country manufacturers pull their socks up and compete in terms of performance and price, thus customers benefit.

Whatever else you might say about them, one thing EV's are not, is fire prone.
EV's are approximately 11 times less likely than ICE vehicles to catch fire.
the best comparison of safety is fires per billion miles driven. If we compare using this method, there are approximately five EV fires for every billion miles traveled, compared to 55 fires per billion miles traveled in gasoline cars.

Fair point but in the 1970s there was a lot of loyalty to our failing car industry, and residual anti-Japanese feeling (for obvious reasons).
Criticism of EVs is based on facts, not emotion.

As long as the facts are correct - e.g. the reference to them being fire prone, especially the newer breed using LFP batteries which are significantly less prone to fires
It seems that many Europeans including Brits are not buying BEV’s in sufficient numbers to meet Government targets to phase out petrol and diesel cars by 2030-35. The article below highlights the higher purchase costs and lack of charging infrastructure as the two main concerns.
