Yeah, I can definitely see the comparisons. :lach: They're almost identical.

Benitez had us top scorers in England one year and top scorers in Europe another with over 100 goals, the defensive idiot, a little different to the wet fart that is Hodgson.

He's been in the job a week.

I'm hoping it's a stepping stone to the Real job, Chelsea fans don't deserve him.

What he'll do is make Chelsea hard to beat for a few games while he finds his feet then go from there.

If you could hypothetically give Benitez, Mourinho, Guardiola, Wenger and Fergie the same group of players, like a chess game, Rafa would beat them. He's the best tactical manager going.

He's got weaknesses but coaching isn't one of them.
why not just give hime the Real, Barca, Liverpool, Inter, Bayern, England, Spain, Brazil jobs rolled into one, he is such a hero surely he can manage them all at once

The access road to my apartment here in Hanoi has been wrecked by a new drainage system being installed. As a result I have had my internet and cable TV down more times than I can count during the last month. My apt is only a few hundred mtrs from the office - that too being affected by the same works.
Well - all is now reinstated. 8)

So - I'm hoping that my new found reconnectivity will allow me to view / stream footy hopefully uninterupted.

I can therefore attain my state of inferiority once more. :butt:

Oh yes - nearly forgot

I see that Spurs are above the Arse again..............

And now some words of wisdom from my mates Chas & Dave............

Now there's a word that I don't understand
I hear it every day from my old man
It may be Cockney rhyming slang
It ain't in no school book
He says it every time that he gets mad
A regular caution is my old dad
Rub the old man up the wrong way, bet your life you'll hear him say

Gertcha, cowson, gertcha
Gertcha!

When the kids are swinging on the gate
Gertcha!
When the paperboy's half an hour late
Gertcha!
When the pigeons are pecking at his seed
Gertcha!
When the farmer (?) starts digging up his weeds (?)
Gertcha!

Gertcha, cowson, gertcha
Bar stool preaching
That's the old man's game!

Now the old man was a Desert Rat
Khaki shorts and a khaki hat
How me mother could have fancied that
I just don't know
But when the enemy came in sight
They gave up without a fight
They rubbed him up the wrong way
This is what they heard him say

Gertcha, cowson, gertcha
Gertcha!

When me rock and roll records wake him up
Gertcha!
When the Poles knock England out of the cup
Gertcha!
When the kids are banging on his door
Gertcha!
When the barman won't serve him any more

Gertcha, cowson, gertcha
Bar stool preaching
He's always been the same!

(piano solo)

Gertcha, cowson, gertcha
Gertcha!

When the dog's left a message on the step
Gertcha!
Lester Piggott, when he lost it by a neck
Gertcha!
When me brother kicks the toes out of his shoes
Gertcha!
When the houseflies are flying round his food

Gertcha, cowson, gertcha
Bar stool preaching
He's always been the same!

Gertcha!
Gertcha!
Gertcha!
Gertcha!

Gertcha!
When me mother says he can't go down the pub
Gertcha!
Sister's boyfriend put his sister up the club
Gertcha!
When the tomcats, when they're kicking up a din
Gertcha!
Tottenham Hotspur couldn't get one in
Gertcha!
When me mother locks him out of the flat
Gertcha!
When it's raining and he can't find his hat
Gertcha!
In the mornings when his motorcar won't go
Gertcha!
Next-door neighbour, when he won't give him a tow
Gertcha!
Gertcha!
Gertcha!
Gertcha!

there also needs to be reality checks, even in football threads. to state Rafa was a superior coach to all those you have mention is just ludicrous. They have all been succesful and many have made more than one great team. Like yourself just trying to keep it real

I didn't say he was superior. There is more than one attribute to being a top manager.

I don't particularly rate Fergie highly tactically, doesn't mean I don't rate him as a manager.

Yeah, real modern day conquistadors them three. Or by many did you mean one?

Wenger left a real legacy at Nagoya Grampus Eight.

You have to hand it to Benitez regarding confidence in his own abilities, as quoted by the BBC:

"Interim boss Rafael Benitez believes Chelsea can still win the title despite their failure to score in his two games in charge so far".

I'm sure 'Arry has a better chance of keeping QPR in the Premiership than Chelsea finishing above the two Manchester clubs.

Dunno, it's the 2 mancs and Chelsea nailed on top 3 for me. I think City and Chelsea have the best 2 squads in the league but United just do what they do.

Benitez isn't rated outside Liverpool and Valencia, (his Valencia side with Pablo Aimar and Ruben Baraja is the best team I've ever seen live) fair enough, he had a hatchet job done on by the media but if you look at his record you'll see the press talk rubbish.

I rate Wenger very highly and have alot of respect for Arsenal and the job he's done but you're kinda screwing up your argument, Benitez has achieved alot more outside England than Wenger.

Mourinho is very good at picking the right job at the right time, he's a gun for hire, he'd never be able to build a club, he goes in and has a siege mentality and flogs the players physically and mentally then does one. He's not interested in youth or what he leaves behind.

I think that where Chelsea suffer is in their front line - Torres just isn't doing it and even your magician Benitez is going to struggle there.

Word is he's got a degenerative knee problem, Liverpool knew all along and he will literally never be back to his best. Chelsea will probably splash 40 mill on Falcao in January. :(
